Hi, just wondering your thoughts on remanufactured ink for my HP printer. The price of HP ink in staples is kinda high and after searching online, I see the remanufactured ones are very reasonable. Think these last as long--worth to try them???
Thanks

I've used remanufactured ink without any problems. I will say that if you do go this route and you are printing pictures, make sure all ink is the same. If not, the pictures might not look right.

I use supermediastore.com to buy my ink, I am signed up for their newsletter and they offer deals quite regularly. I've used the remanufactured, generic and OEM. I've never had a problem with any of them as long as I follow that rule (at least for printing pictures) about them all being the same.

ETA: I have an Epson printer.

Ugh, ink prices! I serisouly contemplated just buying a new printer to avoid paying $40 for Lexmark colored ink. I swear our printer has THE most expensive ink!

I did buy the remanufactured one. I haven't tried it yet though.

I saw a sign hanging at a office max saying they refill your ink for prices starting at $10. Any have insights?

That's what I just did! I just bought a new printer because the ink cartridges for my old printer (5-10 years old) were way too expensive. One cartridge costs close to $50 (and I needed 2) and a new printer was less than $150 (and this printer has individual cartridges for each color so you only need to replace the color that has run out - for approx. $10 per cartridge)

At least with some printers you can buy a continuous ink supply system. It replaces your ink cartridges with ones that have hoses coming out of them. Those hoses feed ink from bulk tanks outside your printer. While it is a little expensive to get set up with one, it can save a LOT if you plan to keep your printer.

I have an HP printer and we order the remanufactured ink cartridges all the time and have had no problems. I was able to order 4 black and 2 color cartrdiges for $40. We order from inkgrabber.com. If you use Ebates, get an additional 15% back.

FYI, with HP printers, part of the head is on the cartridge. Therefore, you are replacing the head every time you change cartridges. So if you put a recycled cartridge in there, there's the possibility that something could go wrong. It's not a definite, but it's very possible.

Of course, on the HP printer I use, black ink is only $15; colored ink is $20.
