I'm a new addict here and love all the designs! I'm pretty crafty and working ona few myself.

I have pretty much figured out T-shirt transfers

BUT: for autograph books, activity books, journals, etc...
Do you print at home or take the files somewhere to be printed?
I've read that 28# paper is the best... how much is it a reem?
What about laminating or protecting the covers?
Spiral binding, metal or plastic?

Thanks and happy DISigning.

For myself:

I printed out all the pages to our activity books, journals, and autograph books, laminated the covers and back pages as well as sticker sheets, then took them (activity books and autograph books) to Staples to be bound.
But I did bind the journals myself after finding a do-it-yourself package at Staples.

Thanks, that's kinda what I was thinking about doing, printing at home.

Anyone else have other opinions one way or another???

I did the samet thing. I did all my printing and cutting. I took them to Staples. I did get the first book laminated but then used their clear front sheet for the others since I printed the covers with cardstock

I print some things at home (t-shirts, a couple other things), but the items with major color... like the journal book, some of the activity sticker pages, I had printed at a printing center. $0.49 is so much better then I can print at home.:goodvibes

When you take it to them, do you just bring your own paper and the files?

Do they do it right there while you wait, or is it a drop off/pick up later thing?

I would like to know this as well. I plan on printing an autopgraph book and have no idea where to start!:confused3

Also, what are the sticker sheets?
Sorry for all the questions. I am new here and recently found this site. I LOVE IT! You all do such beautiful work.

Just in case anyone cares to know, here's what I did:

:surfweb: I printed just about everything out at home. :surfweb: I used www.printpal.com for my ink and it's about half price of the other stores, even Walmart. Got two complete sets for the photo printer (12 cartridges total, $40)

t-shirt transfers (of course)
autograph books (Used AVERY post cards and MS Word) **have that file if anyone needs it
Activity books, though it was a a lot of ink, it was a lot cheaper than 40 pages at .49 each. Those were on 28# paper, about $11 for a ream.
EPCOT Passports on card stock, maybe $6 if you could find the 250 count and not 500.

And now the only thing that's low is black ink, but I think that's cause I printed a lot of stuff for work, too.

Close Contact Paper
to "laminate" all the covers: $12.99 for a roll.

Cutting:
i'm having office max do that too because I seem to have a lot of pages that need to get done, and they have a $2 flat fee. Don't know if it's per project or per customer but I don't care.

Binding: Office max is going to do it all for like 1.99 each, except the passport because i'm just going to staple it.

Now I'm off to work on my aspiring dreams of being a DISigner. Happy crafting!

thanks for the website and info. I am defintely going to have ooficemax do the binding and cutting
