Princess Weekend 2022

Someone in a Facebook group is getting newbies all worked up about how the races will go this weekend due to weather. Saying that all the Marathon weekend races started early (they said the 5k started at 4:45 instead of 5) and groups released very quickly due to heat and to anticipate RunDisney doing the same thing with all races this weekend. She posted that she's not trying to stress people out, but that's exactly what she's doing with that post, judging by the replies. I thought I read that the marathon did indeed start everyone faster than usual, but I'm not aware of what happened with the 5k, 10k, and half. Anyone remember how the starts for marathon weekend went?
I was in S1 at Marathon Weekend, about 2-3 people deep each day. My Garmin shows me starting at the following times:
5K: 4:59 a.m.
10K: 4:59 a.m.
HM: 5 a.m.
M: 4:56 a.m.

Anyone interested in meeting up for lunch Sunday at 2pm for lunch at Space 220? I have spots on a reservation that can accommodate multiple people. :)

The next available flight on Friday doesn't get into Orlando till 6:30p and the bib delivery closes at 7pm.

As others have said in other ways, they have always had bib pickup in the morning no matter what they say. I once “made” my then husband take a day off work so we were there (disneyland) for the expo because the rundisney people swore there would be no morning pickup, and he was not happy with me or Disney when he saw the tent for bibs

I don't think calling RunDisney will help, or if they'd even answer the phone quite honestly.

They are answering (they helped my cousin yesterday), but I agree they would not be helpful for this.

If people are freaking out that they might start a couple of minute early, they are probably also people who are new to running, maybe didn't train, or are on the edge of getting swept and it would be better to know that a quicker start is a possibility than being blindsided by it on Sunday morning.

I agree. Knowing to head to the corrals earlier just in case is a good thing.

Question.

The email about the expo pass changes the wording to “checkin pass.” Are those the same thing?

Rundisney has confused me and my cousin 130% recently (I registered for her and none of the FAQs on how to get her stuff over to her own account worked, and then first with me and next with her they pretended like we have multiple accounts they needed to merge), and the wording change is baffling to us. Any reassurance that can be provided would be lovely. (We do, finally, have checkin passes for yoga and for the challenge for each of us)

Jitters are already starting to set in, not helped by the fact that this is a very busy work week so I’m already on edge. Can I hear some pre race routines that work for everyone to get themselves in a good headspace before a distance run? I HAVE completed the race distance two weeks ago so I know I can do it, I’m just getting all hyped up about performing as well as I want to. :)

Trust your training. Go with the flow. No second guessing once the race starts. Stay positive. Smile. The race is the victory lap, not the assessment of training or me as a person/runner. It’s a celebration of the work I put in to get here.

Give my best effort on this day. There are things I can not control, but I can control how I respond to them. Yesterday might have been a better day, or maybe next week Tuesday will be worse. All that matter when I toe the line is giving my best effort in that moment. Nothing more and nothing less.

All of my pre-race routine is tried and true. I’ve practiced it for months. When to eat. When to drink. Mental space. Visualize. R-E-L-A-X.

You ever consider going into motivational speaking? ;)

Genuinely, thank you! I think I’ll be pulling a few mantras from this whenever my mind starts whirring too much. Can’t wait to see everyone!

So, my goals are out the window. My clinic moved buildings at the end of last week. All the packing, unpacking, mopping, etc. flared an old shoulder tendinitis. Now I have a frozen shoulder. The pain is nothing I could have expected. I got it injected by my friend orthopod a few days ago. Hoping for improvement but I can see myself walking all 3 races now. I am so bummed because I worked so hard at improving my pace.

I forgot, how do I link my bib number to my photo pass?
In MDE, go to photos -> ‘link photos’. Select ‘Type to Link…’, then enter these codes with your bib number in place of the x’s. If your bib number does not have five digits, then add 0’s to the beginning of your bib number.

Saw on IG the race shirts. I love them, especially that reddish for Mulan!

So excited it's here!
Me too!! Sitting on the post-yoga bus now, slowly starving, but looking forward to heading to the expo after breakfast.

For anyone curious, the yoga mats are blue, thin, and completely without branding or decoration. But the carry bag is decent and has the runDisney logo.

The yoga was good, but actually only lasted about 45 minutes, so it ended well before sunrise, and there was A LOT of standing in line waiting to get in.

I think the reddish orange is Moana? Lime is Mulan/half, Periwinkle is Tiana/10k, baby blue is Cinderella/5k.

On the whole, not my personal choice in colors (I prefer dark tones like the ones they used for the 2018 races) but I am ridiculously relieved that the Mulan shirt is at least NOT pink like all the paid merchandise. I'll take it!
