Princess Weekend 2022

Ah - ok. So maybe my plan won't be to get to a back of a corral (been worried about feeling claustrophobic). There's nothing more that I can do than wing it......I'm getting a bit too much in my head at this point going through the unknowns of race day. I'm sure I will figure it all out!!!!!!!!!!

Best advice I can give, come to the pre-race DIS meetup before the 10k.

Pre-race meetups: Each race morning, 3AM - about 4:30AM in the pre-race staging area (link).

Just came to burn off some of the nervous excitement of Princess! My magic bands just arrived. My outfit for the half is getting test run #2 during my last long run before I taper. I've got my sunshine flyer tickets booked, an appointment for grocery delivery for my water, and a few choice dining reservations. Transportation to TTC for yoga is probably the last thing I have to work out that's causing me stress. It's still too far out to pre-schedule a Lyft. I had signed up through a running group to be paired up with other princesses to share rides, but while it was a good idea and someone worked hard on it...it sorta fizzled. I feel like I'm going to be doing that Humphrey Bear panic run the morning of if rideshare is down or something.

I'm so excited for all of you! The pacer info is fascinating - I didn't know this was a thing!

I'm still in limbo land for race weekend.... getting MRI for my possible (likely?) stress fracture on Sunday 2/13. I haven't run since Feb. 2. Then I can't meet with my doc to review results of stress fracture until 2/17. That's when I'll know if I 100% can't run at all for several weeks, or if it's not so bad and I could potentially run... a few miles here and there? My leg was bothering me last weekend (2/5-6) when I did a lot of standing/walking, but now it feels totally fine. It's probably not totally fine, but really, it doesn't hurt at all. I've been swimming as much as I can to do some cardio. Btw, swimming is HARD. 2 weeks ago I could run 8 miles, no prob. Right now I can barely do laps for 20 min, I'm totally winded. It's wild.

We leave for WDW late on 2/18, the day after I see the doc. If he give me the green light that I can run/walk the 10K without serious injury, I will do a few short runs while I'm at WDW the week before the races. I expect the HM will be out, even if I get the thumbs up from the doc for that (which I doubt). We'll see, but it's all coming down to the wire and meanwhile I'm not training....

The event guide has been updated to show that they will now be having transportation from the resorts to/from sunrise yoga on Thursday. Sounds like you have one shot to get on a bus from your resort, and if you miss it, you are on your own to get to the TTC.

OHMYGOSH! That totally makes my day! I hadn't seen that. Thank you!!! See, coming to Disboards to burn off the pre-trip hyper pays off!

I like that they do the pacers for people who want them but I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the last Star Wars half where we were at that really tight pinch point as you exited AK and went into the parking lot. Just all stuck together and walking because the path was SO narrow, and this pacer woman who was walking next to me yells RUN!!!! right in my ear even though we were so tightly stuck that IMO it was dangerous to encourage people to crush in even more. I'm interval running this one but I am more than happy to use an app.

That’s awesome for people who registered, but super frustrating that they suddenly decided this now. I so wanted to do the yoga, but had no way to get there (I don’t do ride shares) so I didn’t register.

There are also a lot of people who technically are dressed up but their version of that is a printed shirt and regular shorts or the disney bounding type costumes. I fall into this group. Never done a "real" costume but like a fun tank or disney bounding type costume.

Yeah this is me, too. Though I have to admit I'm having trouble finding a good shirt for this one. I've done the superhero and Star Wars ones in the past and they're way easier to find good generic tshirts that makes sense for the race. I do have a Peter Pan shirt from the Tinkerbell 10k at DL a few years ago, but it wasn't my favorite shirt so I guess we'll see what my next few shopping trips turn up!

Pacers have a pretty tough job because if they don’t bring their group in on-time people (in the groups) get really upset. And that causes blowback for the Galloway service since the pacers are “working” for them. The narrow stretches stink in some parts of the course and make things more difficult for everyone for sure.

Are there narrow stretches for the 10k?

For the 10k since they're running us from Studios to Epcot via the walking path, that will be pretty narrow and crowded. That part has been awful for every race I've been in. But other than that I think the 10k looks okay.
There is one sharp turn at about the 1 1/2 mile mark

I guess I have gotten lucky through this stretch. There are more people there for sure, but not to the point that i have to slow down!

14 days out this is getting real! :yay:

(altho the event guide still hasn't been officially published on the rundisney.com website)

https://guide.rundisney.events/ brings me to princess.

As you now know, they have transportation.

If you're in the Beach Club area, I will have a car. If the other person from this thread (whose name I don't recall) joins, you're welcome to the last seat in the car to get to yoga. (it would be nice to meet you ahead of time)

I suffer from severe claustrophobia - 2020 Marathon weekend was my first race and the corral situation for it was horrible for me. I really was concerned I wouldn't make it through it. The chute they loaded us into had a turn and I was so stressed trying to figure out where to position myself. But the next 4 RunDisney races I've done have been a lot less stressful. Their corrals have not been as panic inducing. Once the corrals get busy I make sure I'm on an outside barrier and just follow the outside the entire time. The barriers are easy to lift up and detach or jump over if needed (not that I recommend doing that, but as someone with claustrophobia it's knowing little things like this that make a situation a bit more bearable).

Wait.....what's a chute????????? I have calmed down learning/seeing the barriers and def plan to hug a side of one of those. My heart is racing - I'm picturing a chute like an enclosed water slide!

Boy did I get lucky!

I'm so happy for you!

Remember she's talking about 2020, not 2022. Nothing is enclosed like a water slide.

They have to send us in the right direction without us roaming all over the place. So they'll narrow the pathway a bit for some turns. It's just fencing. Nothing enclosed. Stick to the outside barrier.
