We will be taking our 6yr old DD to Disney for the first time in December and I was wondering if anyone has been to the My Disney Girl Tea Party at the Grand Floridian. Is it worth the money? Any info would be great!!! :hippie:

We took our DD (6 at the time) for the first time 12/2004. :)

It was hard for us to decide to spend that much monet, but we splurged since it was supposed to be a "one & only" trip, and DD is a huge Aurora fan.

She loved it!

Here's some info & reviews

Two years ago we took my niece (6), my son (5) and my daughter (7). They all had an absolutely wonderful time, and so did we! While the kids were off having their tea party, my mother, my sister and myself had our own little tea party at the Grand Floridian. The teacakes and little desserts were very good, and it was probably the most relaxing hour and a half of our entire trip!

Well worth the money, and the kids still talk about it. I think we might try the Pirate Cruise next year.

My sister and I took my 4yo DD in January and she absolutely loved it! She loves her Aurora doll and used her spending money to buy a Tinkerbell outfit for her. It was a great way to relax midway through our week and was very entertaining. The food was very pretty and she loved her heart shaped sandwiches. Make sure you have a princess dress for your daughter- all but 2 little girls were dressed like princesses when we were there. It really is worth the price for the magical time!

We went 11/2005 and I must say my ex-husband said I was crazy to spend that kind of money on tea. (that is why he is my ex.. :rotfl: ) But I spent the 199 and it was worth every penny. My daughter wore a cinderella dress but most of the girls had pink aurora gowns on. They make such a fuss over the children and treat them like little princesses. I would not do it again but I got wonderful video and pictures of something my daughter will never forget.

We took our 6 year old to the Tea Party last September. It was hard to pay the money not knowing what to expect. I read many reviews with pictures, but none did the event justice. Not because they weren't well written or described, but there is so much Disney magic built into this event that can't be described with words. This is what Disney does best, and it's hard to find small events that are so personalized.

DD was blown away that they knew here name and called her Princess. She felt so fancy drinking her "tea" and participating in the songs and dancing. If you can take the time and add this to your travel budget, I would deifnately do it.

Thank you all for your info!!! I am really excited about taking her to the tea party now. I think she will love it!

We (myself and two dd's 9 & 5) did this in March. I had made the reservation and canceled this event the 4 trips prior to our March trip! I just had a hard time deciding if it was worth the money. IT IS SOOOOOOOOO WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!! The pixie dust is there from start to finish. I wish I could have been dressed in "royal" attire. I know that we will treasure our memories of the tea party forever. I got to be a little girl with them! Ms. Rose Petal is wonderful and extremely talented. The wait staff were pros. They worked around all the little girls dancing. My daughter's loved having the new princess Aurora dolls there with them. Disney definately pours on the pixie dust at this event!

I'm so glad to hear the great reviews on this. My DD and I are going in July. She is 8 (very small for her age) and wants to dress up. Is she to old? Also, where do you find the outfits for the doll. She loves tink and will want the outfit. What is the attire for the adults?

asramears, your 8 year old is not too old to dress up. :)

Unless it's changed, the outfits are at many of the shops. When we went to the tea, they sent us up to the gift shop afterward to name the doll & get a certificate & scrapbook paper. The outfits were for sale there.

Adults were wearing everything from dresses to t-shirts & jeans.

Can you please elaborate as to why you were sent to the gift shop, this may send DH over the edge! We are shelling out $480 to attend a tea party, being told to go to the gift shop afterwards... :rolleyes1

You are sent to the gift shop to receive a birth certificate for the disney girl doll and some scrap book materials that are included in the price of the tea. My DD6 also chose to use some of her spending money to buy her new doll some new duds. Knowing that the doll is 18" I was able to pick-up some extra outfits for it at Target as well as a matching set for my DD and the doll at Marshalls. The outfits sold at WDW go for about $25 a set.

The tea was definitely worth the money in my opinion. It is such a really special event. :sunny:

Thank you! I think we can survive that, esp since I just started scrapbooking! ;) I'm hoping it will be worth the $!

Do it, do it, do it!! It was the most fun that I have ever had with my daughter. It was something for us to do together, and I'll never forget it. She was 5 at the time, and I just sat and watched her the whole time. It's such a magical experience.

The girls also get a bracelet, rose and tiara to take home. We ended up with a pretty big bag of stuff! I did pick up a few more things in the gift shop, too, but the prices were fairly reasonable. My daughter wore a Belle costume, but there were girls wearing all kinds of costumes. Some were just wearing pretty "Sunday" dresses. They were all made to feel super special no matter what they had on.
