Princess lunch at Norway - boys bored to death?!?

I know that my daughter would love doing a character breakfast/lunch. I'm thinking about doing the princess lunch at Norway (sorry, blanking on the correct name of the restaurant). I wonder if my 7 yr old son would be bored to tears at something like that, though. Do they have something to make it entertaining for the boys? Or should I maybe rethink doing this?

I think it would depend on the boy. We have had this meal experience several times in the past few years and have seen families with just boys and families with boys and girls there. Many of the boys were DARLING when the princesses made a fuss over them and the families all seemed to get a big kick out of it.

Specifically, no, there is nothing outside of princesses walking from table to table, taking pictures and signing autographs. The princesses spend LOTS of time at each table. It also seems that the characters are trained exceptionally well to talk with kids in any kind of situation.

Ok...at least I know what to expect now! I'll have to think about this. Honestly, I think that my son would be ok with it - especially if the princesses talk to him. He'll be older and probably get to do some rides that my daughter won't, so this might be a good thing that would be special for her that he might have fun at too.

My son has enjoyed the princess meals as much as his sister sometimes!! the princesses dote on him and he came out of there with lipstick all over his cheeks. I think my husband was jealous!

The two boys at the table next to us (about 4-5 and 7-8 years old) were having the time of their lives. The family didn't even have any girls, they liked the food and the princesses kept asking them about all the adventures they'd had ("How many dragons have you slain?")

My sons ages 6 and 7 have been there 2 years in a row with their younger sister and they are fine - they love the appitizer bar. Also when you walk in on the right side right by the restrooms is a really cool chair. It was one that was actually used in a pirates movie by captain jack. They liked sitting in it.

Your sons will be fine - the princesses make a fuss over them.

I agree, it depends on the boy. We took our son 4 years old at the time and he loved it because he loves princesses. He has lots of girl friends and we watch princess movies.

Typing that, he's an only child and can't see us taking him (without girl) again at an older age.

My ds went with the rest of the family last year and although the princesses didn't even talk to him, he really enjoyed the food there. He does have 2 younger sisters that the princesses concentrated on more. going back again this year.

During our first Akershus visit in '05 our son was 12 and he enjoyed the princesses.
DH did too... and I have the pictures to prove it
I would think any red-blooded good ole American male would...

We go to Akershus for the food, but enjoy the princesses as well, even without the kids!
But I can't wait to see DS's reaction when we eat there with him in October 2011- He'll be 18 and I think he'll like it just as much or more so than when he was 12...

My ds was just a few weeks short of 5 when we were the last year and he LOVED it...every bit as much as dd (then 13) did.

The princesses were so much fun with the boys and made them feel really special. It was awesome and we fully intend to do it again next year when ds is almost 7.

I think he'll be fine. Will be nice to have a princess meal for your daughter. And yes, can justify it by oh, but there are more cool boy rides you get to do to make up for it.... or as my friends did with their son, did Norway for the princesses for their daughter... and then wanted to do a restaurant their son would think was cool - they did TRex, which he loved.
