Princess Dresses

What is your opinion on taking a kiddo to the park in a princess dress? We are going in April... worried about comfort but I know she would love it.

We would probably do the dress at night for dinner and a short time at the park, after nap.

we put the dresses on over their shorts. When they get tired of them, we change them into a t-shirt, shove the dress into a gallon size ziplock and more on. You could just do the reverse - dress in a ziplock until its time to wear it and then change.

DD5 loves it. We've let her wear it all day and she was in heaven. She's been doing it since she was 3. She wears shorts/pants and tshirt on the ride so she isnt uncomfortable and then just changes into it when we get there. If she gets sick of it or its late/cold we change. Whenever she doesn't wear one she comments on the other little girls with them on. We buy ours on amazon but they are everywhere.

We buy them on sale at the Disney store or through swap sites. I've heard good things about little dress up shoppe (I think that is what it's called)

We love the dresses from Little Dress Up shop because they aren't itchy and are washable. The brand of dress is "Little Adventures" -- they can be found elsewhere as well.

I buy ours exclusively from the Disney store now. I used to balk at the price, until I bought less expensive ones and they fell apart (literally, the fabric frayed). If you watch, you can get them on sale for a pretty good price.

FYI, they don't fold up very small, so I folded them as nearly as I could and put them in gallon ziplock bags, then squeezed as much air out as possible before packing them. They didn't even wrinkle! Now, THAT is magic!

If you get a new dress. wash it before hand. And chuck the princess shoes and got with tennis shoes. Having a kid with blister at 10Am ruins the day,bring the shoes for pick and swap out.

I also wanted to suggest Mom approved costumes and the Disney store online. I know this weekend parks only merchandise is 30% off online. We have also gotten great dresses that are Disney princess inspired from kohls.

There will be so many little ones dressed in princess dresses so it's a great idea. Definitely bring clothes to change into and wear comfy shoes. My daughter has princess crocs that she always wore.

Thank you so much to everyone! We are so excited. Will be getting a dress and bringing a change of clothes, although I'm a little worried she will want to be in her princess outfit the whole trip!! Good thing there is a washing machine at the resort!

First trip to DL my niece got 2 park dresses. She wore them but she was itchy. After that I made princess sundresses.

My DD's first trip when she was 2, I brought one Cinderella dress and one Minnie dress. Little did I know that other than wearing the Minnie dress one day, she would want to wear the Cinderella dress all day every day for the entire trip. I'm pretty sure that thing could walk by itself by the time we got home. She got a taste of the attention she got from CMS and others in the princess dress and she was hooked. We have taken her to WDW every year since then (she is 9 now), and at ages 3-5, she wore princess dresses all day every day in the parks quite a bit. She was funny in that she wouldn't wear a regular outfit if the seam touched her in the wrong way, or if it wasn't completely soft, but she would wear a princess dress all day without ever one complaining that they were itchy or hot. I would have a stand by outfit with you and a folded up shopping bag (for the princess dress), in case your DD decides she doesn't want to wear it for long.

We have been hesitant as my daughter is also one to complain about the tags that apparently are viciously attacking her precious skin, but she recently wore a friend's princess dress for Disney on ice, which we discovered afterwards was quite snug and not a single peep from her! So, I think it will be a good idea for me to have an option for her while we are there...

AH...the evil clothing tags. I feel your pain. Been there, done that--only not only did they pretty much have to be cut out of everything before she would wear it, but also when you cut it, you better be sure that any edge you left did not remotely touch her skin. It does get better. DD just turned 10 and I haven't heard her complain about a tag in a long time. She still hates most socks and is picky about any kind of thick seaming inside her clothes, or certain rough spots (I'm warning you now if you see any kind of T-shirt with white backing on the inside of the shirt where the design is just run far far away), but it is way better than the preschool years. Hang in there!!! Oh, and she sounds just like my DD was, a tiny little tag can be the worst thing ever, but slap an itchy princess dress on her and she was happy all day and didn't complain (unless it was one like Sleeping Beauty often is with long net sleeves- that's one you should probably stay away from).

I just found an awesome Cinderella dress that twinkles on clearance at Target for $10!! DD5 will wear it to MK one evening after nap.

We were in Disney with our 3 granddaughters the end of May 2015. Needless to say - it was very warm. I bought princess dresses for them from The Little Dress UP shop and highly recommend them. They are well constructed, definitely non itchy and wash beautifully. The girls wore them to a Princess Breakfast and changed into shorts w/princess breakfast t-shirts later. I also put the dresses in zip lock bags & stored them in the backpack. The dresses have held up so well, the girls use them for dress up play almost a year later.
