Just a little vent . . .

We are going to WDW in October for MNSSHP and DD wants to do BBB again. I am looking for a dress for Fairy Godmother to 'give' her to wear (we did this last time as well).

The last time, I found the Disney Store deluxe Cinderella dress from 2008/2009 on ebay and that is what the Fairy Godmother gave her. I had purchased it about a year before for $80.

I have been looking for the red Belle Disney Store deluxe dress from 2008/2009 or the Limited Edition Rapunzel Wedding dress and I found them . . . for $200-$500!

The Belle dress comes with shoes, the tiara and a wand for $300 and the dress has been worn.

The Rapunzel dress varies, but even the cheapest dress alone is over $200 dollars.

Am I the only one who thinks it is ridiculous to charge so much for a dress? I just don't understand charging someone else twice what you paid for the dress . . . especially if it is used.

I am really uncomfortable paying that much for a dress, but I prefer to buy one that looks like a real princess dress vs one that looks like it was made for dress up play only. We have several other dresses that DD uses for dress up in the playroom, but I'd like something that looks like the Fairy Godmother made it, not something she's seen in walmart or the disney store.

I'm just not sure what to do . . .

Have you looked on etsy? Some people make some beautiful dresses on there. And many are much more wearable than the Disney Store ones.

If its limited and no longer available then almost always the price is jacked up, even for used. The current sleeveless Rapunzel wedding dress on Disneystore.com is basically the same as the previous one with sleeves. Also be aware that it is a glitter bomb so shake it out good. I personally wouldn't pay those eBay prices. I purchased all the dresses my DD wore to WDW last summer on sale from Disneystore.com. They were excellent quality and we got so many compliments each time she was dressed up. Also, if you use Zulily they occasionally have off brand princess dresses. There was a sale on some last week that were in the style of Disney princesses with some generic mixed in too.

Thanks so much for the etsy suggestion! I looked on there and found some really beautiful things. I'd much rather pay $200 for one of those than one I know someone only paid $150 for in the first place.

Also, I'm hoping to do the Princess 1/2 Marathon in 2015 and I found somewhere to get my tutu from to wear in the race!

My browsing on etsy was fruitful.
