We've got Princess Storybook booked for our DD. She just turned 2. I have a sundress for her with the princesses down on the bottom corner that I was going to have her wear for our lunch, but after reading a few threads, I'm wondering if I should get her a princess dress/costume? Do you think she is too young? She is a very girly-girl, so I think she'd love the dress, I just can't decide if (at her age) it's worth it.

And, if you do think so, do you have any suggestions on where to purchase on that is NOT $40?

Oh, the things I've debated for this trip.... I need a new hobby!

It might still be quite warm when you are at WDW. I have heard that the dresses are quite warm.

At two, I doubt she will notice if she isn't in a DW princess dress. But, it might be worth purchasing if you can find at least another use for it (Halloween costume, Christmas photos, etc.)

My niece bought the Ariel wedding gown at DL ($65) last year when she was 3.5 yrs and has worn it quite a few times. Dress up and I do a Prince and Princess day in the summer for fun days at the daycare and also Halloween at daycare. She also will be handing it down to her younger sister when she out grows it.

I bought two for my dd2. One is a cinderella dress that i got at walmart for $20, i bought it a size bigger so she can get more use from it. All i have to do is safety pin the back a little bit to make it tighter and it's fine. Then i went to the disney store and got a beautiful yellow belle dress on sale for $25, it was only a couple days ago so they might still have them.

Depends on when you're going and how far past two she is. At two and a half is when they start "pretending" and really getting into dress up. So she'd probably love the dress. But if she'll only be just two, she might consider it a pain and not get it.

If it's going to be really hot, and you're worried about the scratchy/uncomfortable factor, another option is one of the over-the-top nighties the Disney store sells. They look very princessy, but are much cooler and lighter.

Have fun!

Try ebay. Then let her wear the gown for the meal and after your finshed taking photos take her to a bathroom and change her into the sun dress. In my bottom counter DD is at CRT wearing her Ariel costume from her BBB makeover. The top counter pic is from Halloween where she wore the SAME dress. I can tell you from first hand experience many of the "little princesses" love to dress the part for their special meal. Not to mention the photos look beautiful....something you will treasure many years later!

I bought my DD her first princess dress at 2 yo. I bought an XXS at The Disney Store and paid about $40.00. But at 4 yo, she can still fit into it.

In the meantime, I have bought her nicer, newer ones for her princess meals at WDW. But the older ones are great for dress-up at home.

I have found cheaper princess dresses at wal mart and toys r us. They are usually pretty roomy and my daughter plays dress up with them so they get a lot of use.

If you can't find anything, the sundress sounds darling. I am sure the princesses will tell her she is beautiful no matter what she is wearing, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I purchased my 2 1/2 year old a dress online from Disney store (they have clearance and often have specials) which she wore all the time at home when she and her older sis pretended to 'go to breakfast with the princesses.'

The day we actually went to the castle, she refused to put it on (She said "I don't like this"). So, we brought it with in the double stroller in the seat she wasn't sitting in (just in case she changed her mind). She didn't but the cast members asked us what happened to the princess? We started joking it was our invisible daughter.:rotfl2:

So, my advice would be if she seems into it go ahead and get a dress... otherwise skip it until she's older.
