OK. Not sure if this is the right place for this post but I need some guidance. My daughter's Princess Aurora doll received from the Tea a year ago has seriously bad hair days. Does anyone know if Disney does "repairs" for the dolls? Like American Girl hospital...

TIA:goodvibes

No, Disney does not do repairs on the dolls. Is the hair just matted really badly? If it is there are a couple things you can do. You could try calling a locate doll hospital. Or you can try fixing it yourself. (I have some things that have worked for us if you want to PM me)Sadly the quality of these dolls is not the same as AG. The hair on the AG is a higher quality than the Disney dolls.

I had the same issue with my daughters dolls hair. I ended up getting rid of the doll because my daughter would get so upset with her hair. I am going to get her a AG doll for Christmas and I hope it will be better.

I read on a doll website to use 409 or Fantastic as a "shampoo". Just wet the hair, spray on the cleaner, rinse and then spray with a childs hair detangler. It really does seem to bring back the smooth, silky shine.

Livndisney:

I'd love to hear your suggestions. Have you tried the ideas from MaidMarian?

I don't know how to PM but I'm at susancaye@aol.com, if you don't mind sending me a message.

Much appreciated.

Suggestion for the Disney doll hair. (Note I would NOT use this method on the AG doll as the hair on the AG is different)

1) Never use a brush on a doll that has been used on a human. (Human hair has oils that can really mess up a doll's hair)
2)I use a small dog brush(wire brush) (similar to the AG hairbrush)
3)I use a thick conditioner (usually VO5).

Remove the dolls clothes and cover any fabric body parts by tying in a plastic bag.
Submerge the doll's hair in a bowl of cool water.
Make sure all of the hair is wet.
"Glop" the conditioner on the hair and work your fingers thru as many tangles as you can.
Don't pull the hair. (The hair is most likely rooted and will come out if pulled). If you can't get all the tangles out, add (thick) conditioner right to the tangle and "massage gently" until the tangle falls out.
Rinse the hair to remove ALL conditioner.
Pat the hair dry with a towel.
Do NOT RUB!!! (It will tangle again) and DO NOT use a hairdryer.
GENTLY comb your fingers thru the hair while it is wet.
Once you can get your fingers thru the hair you can then use the brush. Start at the top and brush down , use small strokes. If some tangles remain you can lighty spray some tangle remover-I would not use too much on the Disney doll.
Once you have brushed out all the tangles, you may have to trim some "bad ends".
Let the hair (air) dry completely.
Your "baby" should be having a much better hair day.

This method has worked for me on dolls with rooted hair. I have even untangled Barbies hair this way.
It is important to note Do NOT use heat on these dolls. The hair can melt.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions or need addition help please let me know.

THANKS SO MUCH!

I will try it this weekend -- you have no idea how grateful I am for your help. It's amazing how much my daughter now enjoys both her AG and Disney doll since I made them some new outfits. I would hate to see one sit in the closet due to bad hair. LOL.

Thanks to all!

I performed major hair repair this weekend on DD Disney Doll and let me tell you... I hope I NEVER need to do it again. What a mess. But if it wasn't for the ideas found here the doll would now be in the trash can instead of back on the bed next to AG doll where she belongs.

THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU!

(Did I say "thank you"?)

Glad it worked out :) I am sure your DD is happy (The things we do for our kids ;) )

Trust me working the knots out is much easier than re-wigging a doll. :rolleyes1. I have re-wigged-it is NOT fun.

Something else you may want to do-is every so often (one a month or so) wet the dolls, hair work your fingers through the knots and spray with detangler and then let air dry. Doing this "should" help keep the knots under better control. (Of course I also try and "suggest" to my DD that the hair REALLY looks cute in braids :woohoo: )

and you are welcome princess:

I actually braided the doll's hair and DD agrees that's her new 'do from now on! LOL
