I will be running my first 5K at the Princess on March 6th, did I hear somewhere that family and friends can not be on the race route around Epcot? I am truly disappointed if this is true. I would guess they have cast members around the route. I was thinking about signing up for the Halloween race as well, I guess that would be the same. Anyone who can give me some information on these races would be appreciated because as many times as I have been to Disney (many) I have never been in a race. I saw the half marathon in 2009 and decided I would like to run so I began training and here we are. I am a huge lurker on these boards but don’t post too much, thank you to all that do post I love reading every day. :yay:

I did the Royal Family 5k last year. Although there are no spectators allowed on the course, they do have a viewing area at the finish. My husband came with me last year and accompanied me to the start, took pictures, and then waited for me to finish.

I ran in RFTT last year, too, which also did not have one-course viewing. I believe only the half marathons and marathon allow spectators on the course, and then only in certain areas.

Races normally start at a time when parks are closed to the public. Characters and cast members are in the parks and cheering on the runners. If the route takes the runners outside the parks then family members can line that area and cheer people on.

I have signed up for the Halloween 5K and really hope that characters will be dressed up for Halloween in the park during the race. I think that would be quite fun
