Disney just emailed me(which is posted on my website):

"it includes either the WDW marathon OR half marathon OR princess half marathon AND disneyland half marathon."

Looks like they are trying to help boost the numbers both at Princess and DL 1/2's.

Hope this adds a few more of you joining us! I know some were concerned about the WDW 1/2 being dropped(by wording of Disney's last email).

Thanks for that info. I just asked about it on the weekly thread. I started running this year and did the Minnie and another 15K a couple weeks ago. I think I'm ready to step up to the 1/2. I could use the CA race as an excuse to see my family out West, plus get more bling. Oh and of course the most important part, keeping fit.:cool1:

I am doing the princess 1/2 and I live in California so going to Disneyland is no big deal for me, but do you have to sign up before the end of this year to be eligible? I love that coast to coast medal!

No, you just have to complete both in the same year.

Disney takes care of everything. All you have to do is register for and complete the races. They will email you before the DL 1/2 stating you are ready to get the Coast to Coast medal!

Ok, so the Disney 1/2 marathon IS included in the Coast to Coast challenge?

Because, like you said, the newsletter said only the Disney marathon.

Yes, someone called or emailed them.
Like this year if you COMPLETE the WDW Full or Half and COMPLETE the DL 1/2 you can get the Coast to Coast medal. Also they added the Princess Half to the list. So basically if you COMPLETE one of the WDW Florida Halfs or Full and then COMPLETE the DL 1/2 in the same calendar year you get the Coast to Coast medal.
Let me just tell you that it is a beautiful piece of bling and I'm glad I did the inaugural this year!!

Yes, I emailed my Disney source asking for clarification as email was not worded well. My Disney contact emailed the posted response to me.

Does the Disneyland 1/2 usually fill? I have not registered yet and am trying to figure out if a trip to the west coast is possible. Do I need to worry about not getting a registration in before it closes?
Lynn

DL Half doesn't fill up quickly like the WDW does.
Robert would have more info for that though.

I had hoped to tie the DL 1/2 in with visit to West coast family, but just found out my niece just got engaged will be getting married in May or June. How will I justify two trips west in 3 months?

The half filled on 7/19/08 for the 08 race. It takes a long time. You can watch WDW's site or mine as I keep track of where all Disney races are at on my main page. We didn't sign up until May as they don't offer DVC/Cast Member discounts.

We have 2 WDW cross country trips within 2 1/2 months(Oct and Jan) for races. My spouse and I love doing races and WDW. Easy for me. Can't convince 3 trips in 6 months:(

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I'll have enough time to convince my Cheerleaders to go on a west coast trip!

Maybe I missed this but...

What if you do the WDW Half in January AND the Princess Half in March? Any extra bling for that? Obviously, it's not a "coast to coast" but Disney is still getting my money twice, why not reward me w/ a little extra bling? :goodvibes

I wouldn't expect it as the Princess is geared towards women. This would cause some issues. Many guys would be upset. If the create a Pirates 1/2, than that would be fair. Do either Princess or Pirate and WDW 1/2 in Jan, get a special medal.

Hmmm. I guess that does make sense. Too bad, I'd like an additional medal. My luck...next year(2010) they will create a Pirate's Half and have Princess and Pirates Weekend, offer the additional medal and I will be out of luck. It would be cool though as this year they are offering the Pirate and Princess party tickets as kinda of the post-Half celebration...

Thanks Robert!

Robert...Maybe you have an idea? How many total folks are they hoping to have regiser for the Princess Half?

I know this is one of their busiest times of year with the Spring break crowds and all. I hear March is extrememly busy. Why would they add an event such as thing to bring in even more people? Jan is a slower time and even the first of May when the Minnie weekend was...

Robert? Any thoughts?

I was told they are allowing 10,000 for the Princess 1/2 and 5,000 for the 5K. I think they wanted to seperate the Princess from being a replacement for the Minnie thus moving it. The Minnie also competed directly with the Flying Pig which is a big marathon/Half on the same weekend. As for being a West Coast person, the races(Jan & Mar) are too close to make 2 cross country trips in 2 months. I did the Minnie and liked the May date as it spread the races out. Trust me, Disney knows what it is doing with its scheduling. They have a reason for everything they do.
