I have read that you have to be 48" or taller to ride. Does that mean everyone or by your self wihtout an adult? The ride does not look too wild.

As long as you meet the height requirement you can ride alone.
I hope that's what your asking :thumbsup2

Everyone has to be 48 inches to ride...it jerks you around a lot.

Under 48" can not ride at all... the ride is very rough (in my opinion) and affectionatley called the "Primeval Hurl" in our family. I am short (5 foot tall) and it really threw me around.

Yes, it's 48" and it does throw you around. But I believe the real reason for the height requirement being so high is the restraints. It's pretty open and someone smaller going around a jerking place could have a problem. I don't think the imagineers were thinking clearly to do that in what's supposed to be more of a kid's area to the park.

Thanks- I guess I thought it was a little tamer. DD will be tall enough for everything except RW and the RRC.
Oh well. I'll have to wave to her and her father as I go by. He's such a nice daddy, is she can't ride he won't ride!

I couldn't believe that thing, it looked alright from the ground, but when we got on it all I wanted to do was get off!!! :rotfl2:

You should see the video I took of us on Primeval Whirl last year-- it consists of my camera pointed in random directions while you hear me and my GF Nikkie yelling, "OW!! OUCH!!" every few seconds-- in fact, a couple of non-Disney friendly words slipped out here and there... :rotfl:

Seriously, though, I think Primeval Whirl throws you around more than any other ride at WDW, including Space Mountain and Dinosaur. We usually ride it once, but that's about it.

Yep I am a roller coaster girl- but that one is on my not ever again list. It was all the spinning. And I was surprised when DD wasn't tall enough the first year it was up- then I rode it and understood- you do get thrown around a lot.

My 12 year old niece and I were there 3 weeks ago. Towards the end of the trip I asked her what her favorite ride was and she said Primeval Whirl! I was shocked, she rode almost every major ride (except RnR).

Make sure you hang on tight! They aren't joking when they say the ride throws you around.

My ds rode this and got a nasty bump on his head. He is well over the height restriction. He was ok. I just kept an extra eye on him that day. It was a little hard though. Imagine watching for lethargy in 95+ degree Disney World:worried:

It's the exact same ride as The Crazy Mouse. We have it at our state fair. It's our favorite ride at the fair! :thumbsup2

We enjoy PW but agree that it will spin you around pretty good. We usually wind up in each others lap during some of the spins. Since the restraints are pulled over your head, anyone under the height requirement could probably slide out from under the restraint and fall out.

I like it but it does spin you around quite alot. My DM had a sore neck for a little while after riding it.

PW was one of our favorite rides at AK. WE laughed the whole way through the thing! Lots of fun!

I went on the Primeval Whirl this past Saturday. I knew what to expect from this attraction from the boards. Many share mixed feelings about this and I can certainly see why. This is a ride that is not that intense; however, it does jerk an individual around quite often.

I really liked this ride. Throughout the ride it felt like the cart was going to fly off the track or something - so it kept me in suspense. Our cart kept turning and turning. I got a good laugh from time to time, but was glad when it came to a stop because I was starting to feel the pain.

It seems that the padding isn't the best - well, what padding? After the ride, my arms were really hurting for a good ten minutes but then I got over it. By no means do I regret getting on the ride because I did enjoy it and I am going to jump right back on when I take my next trip July 29th.

This ride is great for kids and great for a good laugh! :teeth:

I always ride PW during my visit to AK, I like the ride for the wildness and the way you get spun and jerked around. DW may go on it once during the trip, and if she does, once is enough for her. I will ride it several times during the trip. Its a favorite of mine because it opened on the day I celebrate my birthday 3-31, Grandson was too short to ride, and its really good that the height requirement is up there because of the wild ride you get.
