Primetime or Sci-Fi

Also does anyone have pics of 50's Primetime Cafe? I've seen pics of the inside of Sci-Fi but was wondering what Primetime was like.

Which is better for lunch with 2 young boys?

My family has enjoyed both. The experience, not the food, is probably what you are after with younger kids. The experience is more predictable at SciFi and I recommend the experience. If you get the right brother/sister/aunt at 50's it is a load of fun, too. But because so much of the experience at 50's is affected by the CM, if I was going to give my kids one or the other, hoping they would remember the experience, I would choose SciFi.

Hope this helps! You will have something out of the ordinary either way!:goodvibes

We haven't done either one in probably 8 to 10 years. But with boys, I would pick Sci-Fi--I think they would enjoy the experience more.

the sci-fi: it's dark inside, the movie will hold their interest, along with the novelty of eating in a car - burgers, fries, shakes, too!

I think I would pick Sci-Fi, as well. I think little boys would like sitting in cool cars and watching neat sci-fi movie clips for lunch :)

I also suggest Sci-fi for two younger boys. Kids love sitting in the cars and watching movies.

My kids prefered Sci Fi. However, a compromise would be to do lunch at Primetime and make an ADR in the late afternoon for Sci Fi for a snack break. You could just order and enjoy the shakes and cool atmosphere.

I went to the Primetime in November with my kiddies 6, 7 and 9 and they did not like it! The didn't get the antics and the service in general was really bad...the food took and hour and a half to come out..only to be dry and overcooked  We are returning to WDW this August and The Primetime is not on our ADR list..We heard great things about the Sci-fi...so we are going to try that. Have a great trip! ;)

I'm not surprised that your children wouldn't get the antics at 50's, but I am surprised that it took you so long to get your food. We usually get food faster there than just about anywhere we eat and always had very good food. We usually go there every trip but have decided to try someplace we haven't been to in a while, Mama Melroses.
To the OP, Sci-FI is a very neat atmosphere. I had a cheeseburger there and the onion rings, both very good. Go expecting a cool experience with decent food and you'll be happy.

Thanks..I appreciate your input...I went to the Primetime years ago..before I had kids and my hubby and I loved it..we might have had a bad server..or went on a busy day but the food and service was not good! Every restaurant in Disney has mixed reviews...;)

We ate at both (dinner) 3 weeks ago...My kids loved liked the atmosphere at both places...However, for us, the food was much better at 50's...
Here are a few pics I took

I think they would enjoy both! But, I think the food at Primetime is better!:rotfl:

I would have to say Sci-Fi. The kids will get a big kick out of it. Since there are no more drive in movies anymore, its probably as close as they will ever get to one. If they get to sit in the front of the car you will get to enjoy your lunch or dinner as they will be busy watching the movies.

I would ABSOLUTELY say 50's primetime...

the kids will get a kick out of the adults getting in trouble.:thumbsup2

We've been a couple of times to sci-fi and have never had a good meal (or the other 5 in our party).. It was really bad.

They do not guarantee you will get a "car" to sit in. They put us at a table that had a front end of a car on it. (but it was a regular table). Also, we were on the dining plan and the only way they would let us get a milkshake was to use a dessert credit for it... (primetime you can get milkshakes).
Also, the movies they showed weren't cartoons or anything...

I prefer the Sci-Fi. The food is average at both places. However, I hate the schtick at the Prime Time. I find is annoying

Another vote for the Sci-Fi. I had the grilled chicken sandwhich with the cucumber salad. It was excellent and the atmosphere is so neat. Have fun!

Another vote for Sci-Fi. Everything we've had there has been great - reuben, grilled chicken, fries, onion rings. We've been able to walk in both times when doing day trips to DHS without ressies. Nice & relaxing & a great place to cool off. :goodvibes
