I WAS SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE 50'S PRIME TIME CAFE. IT WAS DISAPPOINTING I'M SAD TO SAY. THE FOOD WAS VERY MEDIOCORE AND OVER PRICED TO SAY THE LEAST , BUT I COULD HAVE GOTTEN PAST THAT IF THE INTERACTION HAD BEEN BETTER. I GUESS I SHOULD REALLY RESTATE THAT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO INTERACTION WITH MY FAMILY ACCEPT OUR WAITRESS(DEHILIA) REFERRED TO MY DH AS "SPARKY". THAT JUST WAS'NT ENOUGH TO JUSTIFY THE 85$ WE WERE LIGHTER IN OUR POCKETS WHEN WE LEFT. LIVE AND LEARN. WE LOVED CHEF MICKEY'S AND BOMA AND THE PLAZA RESTURANT!!! YOU HAVE TO COUNT ON ONE NOT BEING UP TO PAR. :hyper:

Sorry you were not pleased with Prime Time Cafe. I've never had a waitress or waitor who gets into the part either, but I've only been there twice. But I just love the overall atmosphere and those onion rings are do die for!!! Hoping third time's a charm.

Sorry to hear about your less than exciting experience.

We will be at WDW in Nov and plan on dining at 50's Prime Time Cafe. The last time that we ate there "Cousin Vinny" was our waiter. He was into his role, and we enjoyed the fun until he tried to make my wife finish her green beans.

Hopefully our experience will be more enjoyable than yours.

we ate there last month and had a wonderful time. i found the food to be great and our "cousin" ed was a hoot. he made my daughter stand in the middle of the room and do the "i"m a little teapot "routine and sent my son to the bathroom because he said he had washed his hands before coming in but gave the wrong color of the saop when he was asked what it looked like. its a fun place and we hope to go again.

We were just there. It was expensive but they gave you plenty to eat. The kids were so worried they wouldn't get dessert because they couldn't finish their meals that we were all sneaking bites off their plates when "MOMMA SUSAN" wasn't looking. She was great! We had a lot of fun!!!

I ate there last week and didn't enjoy it as much as I have in the past. Our waitress - Kristy - pretty much ignored my DH and I. Very frustrating. I agree on the food being mediocre and the prices being way too high! We spent almost as much at Hollywood and Vine with the Fantasmic package and enjoyed it much more.

I have a theory regarding the servers and their interaction with the guests. My GF and I have been to a few of the more "fun" restaurants and really have not been part of the show, which is ok. I think the parties with more people in them give the server more "input" and they have more opportunities to get the guests into the action.

I'm usually more laid back with just my GF, but can get into a groove with a larger crowd. I guess the servers can sense this and react accordingly.

Just my .02

WE've had lots of fun there, but the last time that we went the energy was gone from out waitress. I like the "homecooking" though and the portions were huge.

Our CM wasn't into it either. Good thing, the fried chicken was good. We only went once. Maybe if we had a fun CM, we would've returned.

I've had hit and miss experience at Prime Time. Two years ago was one of the best as my DW was caught stuffing her green beans in a napkin and was introduced to another table in another section of the restaurant. Last week, our waiter was ...only tipped 10%.

If you want good waiter interaction, I'd suggest Whispering Canyons. If you want a better meal at MGM I'd recommend Hollywood and Vine.

Sorry you didn't have fun or good food -
We were lucky! We ate lunch at the Prime Time on Friday the 13th, the day the park was closing early cause Charley was coming -
Our CM had us set the table and corrected us when we didn't say "Please" (only my younger daughter could seem to remember),We observed him correct a nearby table of foriegn (French?) tourist for having elbows on the table & then discussing whith them how much and what part of their arm they could safely have on the table "thees but not thees?" and at another nearby table when a middle school age boy kept flouting the elbow rule he had to stand facing the wall with his nose touching an imaginary circle.
All 4 of us were pleased with our food and the viewmater desert menu (and the smore's one daughter had!)
But the best part was a 40 something waitress discussing hurricane preparations with her 'son'..."I'm worried about the roof shingles, Son" "Don't worry, Ma, I took 'em off and stored 'em in the garage" "You're so smart!".... they're skit lasted about 5 minutes

We were just there (Aug 9th) and had lunch with server Liz... She's very tame as well. It did not help that DH was fully expecting to be harassed... he was bummed. I think it helps to have a teenager. They seem to really love to pick on those. Same goes at WCC. With younger kids, I think they may worry the kid will burst into tears or something, who knows.

In any case, the kids were really not impressed with PT at all. "Geez mom", said my eldest, "They don't even have COLOR TV!" We thought our meals (adult) were good, but my ds was not happy with his hot dog, nor was dd happy with her soup. TO our server's credit, she saw dd not eating and brought out some pasta for her, no charge. Offered to do same for our son as well. Really, it wasn't a BAD meal. Just not what we were expecting, and the kids were a bit bored. Most adults had the fried chicken -- a lot to eat and very good, but not like it's unique or anything. Wished I had gotten the soup or something lighter instead and saved room for the Smores.

HELP !!
We have a PS time for Lunch at 12:15 for our upcoming trip. Have never dined there before. We have a group of 10 ppl and was looking for a really fun & different dining experience. From things I've read I thought the servers really got into the character !!??
Your reviews sound like its really stinks !!
Wasn't going there for the food, just because we thought it would be a real hoot !
Should we reconsider??
HELP !! Now I'm bummed out:(

MissUssH: Fret not -- All may not be lost! In your party of ten, what are the ages? IF you have teens, you stand a good chance of attention! I also wish I had actually asked or informed them at the desk that we could "take whatever they wanted to dish out". I think sometimes they look at a party and assume (incorerectly sometimes!) they don't want the teasing! Another suggestion I would make -- get there for that PS a bit early. OUr PS was at 12:15 also. We showed up at 11:55 and they took us in. This was good because when we left -- man o man was the line long to get in. And we were all so hungry! now it may have been crowded simply because they anticipated the first "wave" of customers would be leaving (and hence a lot of PS were showing up to take the spots as they were vacated), but it sure seemed like a big crowd out there to me, versus no one being out there at 11:55.

I think that while reviews are helpful, they can also be misleading. GO ahead and try PT Cafe -- see how it fares for your family. Every person's experience is different. And like I said, the food was good. Save room for dessert, though! I tanked up on so much milkshake and dinner, I had no room for smores, and man did they look good.

My family of 4 really likes 50's Prime Time Cafe. To give you a feel how it rates in my house. We've only made one PS for our upcoming vacation. It is at 50's Prime Time Cafe.
