Want a fun place for my kids who are 3 and 5. I was wondering what is actually in the stuffed pepper. Also is the shrimp pasta dish good? Having a hard time tryong to decide because the atmosphere at the Sci Fi DIne in looks a little more appealing to me. Not sure which the kids would like more.

I would appreciate any info on Yak and Yeti shrimp tempura or shrimp lo mein.

Captain Jacks lobster tails are they any good?

Trying to decide between Yak and Yeti and Captain Jacks. Both seem to have very mixed reviews.

Thanks so much for any information

IMO--

I would go with 50's over Sci Fi at DHS

Cap'n Jack's gets very mixed reviews. I went last year during free dining, and had the lobster tails and enjoyed them. They were not very big but they were fresh-tasting and not at all chewy or rubbery. We also had the crab cakes, which were the best I have ever eaten, and desserts were good as well.

We would go with Cap'n Jacks. The two lobster tails for one TS is a great deal.

The Yak and Yeti is by far the worst meal I have ever had at WDW. We call is food court Chinese gone bad.

had the twin tails at capn jacks last october - very worth it!

DH loves the food at 50s - me, not so much....

we both love the sci-fi, for burgers, fries & shakes

never been to yak/yeti

I love Sci-Fi. We go for lunch every trip. The food's good (I mean it's burgers and sandwiches) but the atmosphere feels so Disney. It's also funny to me how quiet it usually is. It seems like everyone is just watching the screen and/or eating :). I have seen a few kids when they first come in that are scared either by how dark it is inside, what's on the screen, or probably just overstimulated before they come in and then overwhelmed by Sci Fi. It is a fun place to eat though! :yay:

Love Sci-Fi! Although the food is nothing outstanding, it is good and the atmosphere is unbeatable. I think the '50's Prime Time Cafe is okay, but I do prefer the atmosphere at Sci-Fi. As far as Captain Jack's vs Yak and Yeti, all I can say is that I really enjoyed the Yak and Yeti. I've never eaten at Captain Jack's so I can't have an opinion on that, but the Yak and Yeti instantly became a must-do for us every trip.

I would pick SciFi over 50's if you have to pick between the two. We go to both every time we are at Disney and love them both. For the atmosphere for the kids though, I would pick SciFi. The burgers and shakes are good and the kids will love the big movie screen and sitting in the cars. Have a great trip!!!!

I would second PP opinion on Y&Y. My teenage son and I loved it. I found the lettuce wraps and mandarin salad to be very fresh and he loved his steak and shrimp combo. It was one of our (if not the) favorite restaurants. We have ADRs already for when we take the grandparents back in Sept.

We ate at SciFi for lunch and it was great! The girls loved the atmosphere. They got the Pirate's Punch to drink which is Raspberry Lemonade with a Tinkerbell light. They split the kids Cheese Pizza. It came with veggie sticks and apple slices. The apple slices had a light brown sugar topping. I didn't get to try any of the pizza. The girls inhaled it!

DH got the Chili. I didn't like it, but he loved it. I got the Angus Burger w/Cheddar. It was perfectly cooked, hot, moist, and flavorful. We had flavored cokes to drink. The service was really good and the atmosphere was fun.

I've been to all 3 as recent as this year between the two trips so far in 08. Have eaten at Sci Fi and 50's many times and now have added Yak n Yeti to the list.

I had the lo mein at Yak n Yeti (along with sharing of appetizers with others) and did not like it. Honestly, I can get better food at the Chinese takeout counter at our local supermarket. We never do the dining plan and have never been bothered by food costs but I honestly was shocked at what was charged at Yakkity Yak Don't Come Back for the quality of food we had there. On the plus side, the portions were huge. 4 of us could have shared that lo mein plate.

Of the other 2, Sci Fi has a very unique atmosphere but the food is better at 50's.

IMO, with kids those ages, they would appreciate Sci-Fi the most. Atmosphere is key. My parents ALWAYS took my brother and I there when we were young because there is so much going on that you can just sit and watch the movie screen and be pre-occupied with that so mom and dad can relax for a meal while the screen entertains children--if thats your type of children.

I'm 23 now and Sci-Fi is still in my top 3. I have been to Sci-Fi 3x in the past year and just recently I went to 50s Prime and I was not thrilled with it. I would have gladly spent the money at Sci-Fi. I think your children may be a little young to get the gist of what is going on at 50s (mom/pop food, yelling, antics, etc.) I don't think I went there till I was about 7 or 8 and appreciated the atmosphere more(my dad still hates to go there and get yelled at lol). As far as the food, I feel that the food at 50s is something very similar to what you would get at a Cracker Barrel down the road yet only $20+ (chicken, meatloaf, etc)

Yak and Yetti, I have not eaten there, just the CS but I would like to try it when I return in June.

Good luck, let us know what you decide!

have you looked at www.allears.net for menus??

Our pick for the most fun would definately be Sci-Fi. One of the best themed restaurants at WDW IMO. Food is decent, not great but not bad.
