Prilosec OTC

My DH is thinking of taking this. He is currently on Zantac but it seems as if Prilosec may be cheaper. Any one using this? Any complaints?

I did not know it was OTC. Hope someone can offer some comments on how it worked for them.

My son has been on prilosec for 2 years by prescription. It has worked well for him and he has really bad reflux. By prescription we were paying $30 per month (insurance) but now that it is OTC it will be about $42 per month since he takes 40 mg (2 capsules.) But, being OTC, if he runs out while at school, he can just go to CVS and buy it. Our pharmacist is not sure if we can still get it by prescription and save $12. Your DH may want to talk with his doctor.

Thanx fot the info. My DH's insurance wont pay for it by RX...as it is OTC now...so...It is actually cheaper for us to go this way, I was just interested in finding out if anyone was taking it

I have taken Prilosec for a while.. actually recently I switched to the generic for Prilosec... the other day I was in Walmart and they were offering Prilosec OTC....I bought it to try it and to see if I felt there was a difference between it and the generic..

I thought today after taking it .. I take 40mg as well...that it was in fact better than the generic... mind over matter..I do not know but I have taken them all Protonix, Prevacid, Nexium... but this one works for me.. Good luck...

several years ago, my dr told me I needed to take Prilosec and after taking it for a few weeks, I developed severe abdominal pain. I thought I had pancreatitis but it turned out to be a side effect of the prilosec. That is just me though, it may work really well for others! Good luck!
