Hi everyone,

First I would like to say how much I enjoy this board. You have helped me so much in the past when I was recovering from a broken leg and ankle. My May WDW trip was a dream because I broke down and rented a scooter from an offsite vendor after reading all the posts here.

My Son In Law, who lives with me, has MS and I would like to buy him a mobility scooter. He can walk short distances in the house with a cane, but outside for any distance walking he needs to be pushed in a wheelchair. I would like something that could easily come apart and my daughter could lift inside the minivan. Thirty-some pound parts would be okay. I would also like something that has range with the battery so he could go all day such as at WDW without charging. I was thinking that the Pride Go Go Elite Traveler Plus with the 17 or 18 ah battery pack might fit the bill. They are currently running about $1,100 for the three wheel model. I would love to have your opinions and guidance about this model or suggestions for an alternate scooter. Also, he has expressed a preference for the four wheel model instead of the three wheel. Opinions on that and suggestions of a reliable place to purchase would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Go Go Elite Traveler Plus 3 Wheel Model and just love it!! I've only had it a few months and have only taken it a few places so far. I haven't had any problems with the battery lasting but I haven't used it all day like I would in the parks yet. I'll be taking my first trip to Disney with it in Nov. We have a mini van and my husband has no trouble lifting it in and out of the van for me.

I highly recommend that you try to find a place where you can test these out before purchasing. I didn't like the 4 wheel model because my legs felt too cramped on it and it isn't as maneuverable as the 3 wheel model. The 3 wheel model gives you a little more room to stretch your legs out on either side of the front wheel. I knew right away after sitting on the 4 wheel model that I didn't want that one. Having 2 wheels in front forced me to place my feet further back and keep my knees bent at a very painful angle for me. I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't gone and tried them out.

I'm very happy with my choice. Its compact and light enough to easily load into our van without taking up too much room. The Plus model gives me a better battery and a slightly longer base for my legs and having 3 wheels gives me even more room for my legs and more maneuverability. I can turn on a dime with it.

This is a model that I've been looking out this evening actually!

We live in the UK and are looking into the possibility of buying a scooter, rather than renting, which could also be used once we return home to the UK. Scooters in general are quite expensive and hard to find here in the UK, so we are hoping it might be cheaper and easier to find something in the US when we come over in September.

Is there somewhere near WDW that actually sells scooters that we could go and test them out? What is the average price for a simple scooter that is capable of doing a full day at Disney? lol

I bought mine from Florida Mobility. They have two locations.

There is a store at 8451 South John Young Parkway (near Sand Lake Road) which is sales only (407-363-3535) and at 3559 South Orange Avenue (toward downtown Orlando) which is combined Sales and Service (407-826-7466).

Our local merchant sells this model and we tried it. We rented one similar from Apple Scooters on last trip to WDW and we liked it.

We are not quite ready to buy one, but we will do it in the next three years. I haven't seen anything out there that would change my mind about buying this one. For it's portability and ease of use it's a winner. It's not a heavy duty one that go for 25 miles, etc. but we find it to be quite satisfactory for how we use it.

Was it satisfactory for WDW? I am just a bit concerned about how far we go everyday and whether it might be too much or not! Although to be fair, we normally go back to the hotel at least once a day, so if we've got a second battery on charge, it wouldn't be so much of an issue.

with the battery charge. There were a few days I would say we put in 12 hours at the park.

You do have to get into good habits; so, the charge will be maximized. You need to shut the scooter off when you are seeing shows, parades, fireworks, etc. Even in long ride queues it can be a good idea to shut the scooter off.

Battery charge is also influenced by your weight and inclines/hills that you travel with it. Also, what you carry on the scooter adds weight and therefore drains the battery. Finally, the faster you go the more juice you use, as well.

What I'm trying to say is you play a key role on how long the battery will last.

It's a good idea to keep an eye on your battery gage; so, there's no suprises about running low.

Another tip is to carry your battery charger with you to the park. If you need a boost there are outside outlets in the park where you can juice up somewhat if you are running low. There are some that do this practice regularly when they see a longer show or dine, etc. We never had the need to give it extra charging, but it can't hurt.

Always charge it every night even if it looks like it has a pretty good charge left. Don't take any chances.

We just came back from WDW. I used the Gogo Elite Traveler (not plus) which, I think, has the smaller 10 hour battery.

We had NO problems. We were there over 12 hours one day and still were able to continue on our one charge. I agree with other posters who advise turning the ECV off while you are in an attraction.

Enjoy your trip!

I have been using this ECV for the last 2 years. I LOVE it! I use it in ways it was not meant to, but it is such a tough little scooter, that it does quite well.

I use the 3 wheel model. I didn't like not having the foot room that you have with the 3 wheel version. The 3 wheeled one is quite stable and not tippy at all if that is a reason that you are looking at the 4 wheel version.

There is also a HD version of this scooter. It has a bit of a heavier duty battery because of the higher weight levels it can handle. That might be a idea for someone who wants a longer lasting battery as long as your weight is quite a bit lower than the maximum weight. I think the HD version is up to 325 lbs. If you are around 200-250lbs, then the battery won't be under as much strain as the lower level one.

Thank all of you for your answers! Sounds like this scooter will meet his needs.
