Pricing up for our trip with friends

You might be able to get a sale fare more easily with BA.

The other thing is have you got any VA miles - could you book M&M?

Other than that if you have tickets to buy for all parks it is not cheap - you are looking at close to £1000 just on Disney tickets :scared1: Could you look at options like the MYW 10 day tickets - if you are not going to be hopping and not going to a park every day you may find these cheaper - just checked Undercover Tourist and they are $266 which is around £177.

Spending money will need at least $200 a day I would guess as it will need to include food - so you are looking at around another £1900.

I would make an itemised list so they can see what its costing and try to give them options then if they want to pick the most expensive it is up to them ;)

Hope it goes well when you talk to them :goodvibes

Hi, Well if they say no, pencil me in!

I thought you were waiting a few years for Meredith to be older??:thumbsup2

Thanks so much for taking the time to think of ideas for me!!:lovestruc I will certainly take a look at BA - they are the other airline that I will normally fly with, although we have used Virgin more lately.

I had been thinking about miles - but admit I don't really understand which ones to go for - I have tescos vouchers sitting here waiting for me to do something with, but don't know whether I should opt for airmiles through them - can I book BA or Virgin flights with Tesco airmiles??:confused3

If they decide to come with us I think I will really have to look long and hard at ticketing prices as there are so many variables!!!:lmao: I think for ourselves we are going to invest in annual passes as we will be back again within 12 months, but they will need to do it the cheapest way possible, and as I don't think they are going to have the time or inclination to hop around, one of the MYW tickets might well be best.:thumbsup2

I agree with the $200 a day spend/food and I have sent my friend an itemised breakdown of all the costs and I have put them at £6k total - she doesn't always check her messages so I will wait a couple of days and then give her a ring.

Thanks so much again for replying!!

Send her a text and tell her to check her emails - the suspense is unbearable! :rotfl2:

Hi

Meredith will be older, 2 years :rotfl2:

We (I) am planning on going back next year over Oct half term. Just need to convince Alan :thumbsup2

Regarding airmiles, I don't think they deal with Virgin at all anymore :sad2:

Our BA flight was good though! Especially coming back with all the snow, we were on time and lots of Virgin flights were delayed or cancelled! We managed to get our flights for £225 each after using our Airmiles :cool1:

The easiest way is if you are a member of VA flying club?

It is 2000 miles per person for a miles and money fare on Virgin.

I don't know about proper airmiles and converting tesco vouchers for them - sorry.

AP's will be the way to go for you if you will back in 12 months as they are great value with the DVC discount ;)

There are loads of ticket options for your friends - just need to work out which is going to work out most cost effective. I am sure with a bit of help you can them in on lower budget if necessary!

I know that - I am not as daft as I seem!!!;) - I thought you meant you were waiting until she was a LOT older!!!:goodvibes

I haven't got a problem with BA flights - so perhaps I could change my vouchers to that then as I have quite a few saved up thinking I was going to use them for a Virgin Holiday, but I just don't see that that is going to be a good use - as I won't have enough to pay for a full holiday, so by the time you lose the FVC discount - the vouchers will not really be worth much. Am I right in thinking you can pay for other things through the Airmiles accounts other than just flights? (car hire etc):confused3

It is strange how it seems to vary - as both times mum has flown it has been BA flights that have been cancelled - infact in Nov she actually got moved from a BA flight to a Virgin one on the way back as BA was stopped. - So who knows....

I've just tried to ring he but she isn't home from work yet - I will try again late and let you know!!:goodvibes

Can you just join the flying club? We have always flown with them, so perhaps I should have looked into this before!!;)

I am definitely opting for my annual pass now that I get the DVC discount - thats one little perk I will actually use!!:thumbsup2

thanks so much for all of your help:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

You aren't daft at all, honest :lmao:

You can use Airmiles for other things. Car hire, just about every other airline apart from Virgin it seems and hotels...

I have just booked free flights to Salzburg for our Christmas shopping trip with them and I will also use them to stop at the Sofitel the night before the flight...

I am just trying to decide whether we should go before half term in Oct or go after half term into November??? Decisions, decisions :thumbsup2

Hi everyone - just to update you :)- whilst they were slightly shocked initially, having read my cost breakdown they can see how it all adds up and are still in!!!!:yay::yay::yay::yay:

I have now joined Virgins airmiles (thank you Tracy!!;)) and I might use my clubcard vouchers for tesco airmiles and use them for hotels etc as otherwise I don't really know what to do with them!!:goodvibes

Are you talking about this oct/nov or 2012??? - Pricewise it seems better for us to start trip in half term and go into Nov - but we might need to avoid half term altogether and go beginning of Nov as Darren (friends partner) is meant to avoid taking holiday at month end, so we'll see.

2012, def not this year... Too soon... I was thinking doing half term into November so that would be good....

Better start researching some villas :rotfl:
