Pricing experts predict $4 per gallon

It's getting close to $3.00 a gallon here and expected to rise. My DH works for the phone company and they have been instructed to fill their tanks everyday before returning to the work center for the day.

I feel bad for those who work part time, minimum wage jobs.
There are many folks here who have lost good paying jobs due to outsourcing.
Now the only jobs they can get are minimum wage or a few coins above minimum wage and only part time hours.
These same folks then have to drive 20 miles one way to get to these low-paying, part time jobs.
Goodness, after taxes and gas to drive there isn't much left.

What are the lower income level folks supposed to do?
This is so not good.

Talk about gouging. Many stations already raised their rates on gas that has been in their tanks for days! The new gas is what is supposed to be costing them more, not the gas they already had and paid less for. Its ridiculous

And the worst part is that everything else will have to go up. Those trucks that carry everything have to buy gas too. Pity the poor farmers buying fuel for their tractors. It never ends.

I think the economy is going to tank over this. I haven't had a noticeable raise in over five years. I'll have to cut back somewhere.

If it's any consolation, Disney will surely offer lots more specials because people are going to cut back on travel to afford heat and groceries.

I know someone will tell me my therory is wrong, but, here are my suggestions. First, give what you can to Salv. Army or Red Cross. Second, if we would all cut back our fuel use by one tank a month, think of the gas we could save. Also using less means more for those suffering in the South East. Third, if we all would take the time to buy American made FIRST, we have the power to keep our economy going and hopefully growing. The more Americans working, the more Americans can give to help. Last, pray for those suffering!!!!! May not help much with the cost of gas but may help those in need.

Just went up .30 Cents from yesterday to today. I think it's cause Exxon and other gas comapnies donated millions to the hurricane relief, so they had to raise the prices. :( sucks for me, I'm driving to FL in a month!

Well, I go through a tank every two weeks. This covers my trips to and from work for 5 days of the week and also the necessity trips that have to be made to the store for groceries and such. My partner only drives her truck to and from work and goes through a tank each week. We just bought our first house a few months ago, so we also have to purchase gas for the mower as well as the chainsaw on occasion. The price of gas is making the job of saving for our December vacation even harder than it already is. I am worried that we are going to get down to the last minute and be forced to cancel.

The main reason that we are going to WDW this year is so that my partner can have a night at WDW during MVMCP with her mom and her sisters. It might be the last family outing that they have together because her mom's health is failing. I would cancel the trip and reschedule for sometime later next year if this was not of a more or less urgent nature. So, I am driving my self crazy trying to save for this trip. I love WDW, but the strain it's causing right now is not pretty. Maggie

Why, oh why, did we just by a truck with a V8 that only gets about 13 mpg? Luckily it stays in the driveway most of the time. DH's commuter car gets about 30 mpg...whew! Everyone really must make a concious effort to combine trips to run errands, etc. to cut back on their fuel consumption.

I passed by the gas station (Valero & Shell) and mid-grade gas was over $3.00. $2.92 & $2.94 for regular gas. Ugh!!1

Here in the Minneapolis suburbs, we were $2.59 yesterday, $2.79 by late afternoon yesterday, and $2.99 this morning.

I thought that I would run out and get gas here while it was still $2.88/gal. No luck in Kalamazoo as of 10AM it was $3.19 for regular unleaded. It definately hurt to fill up that 35 gallon tank!

Near by son's place in East Lansing, MI, Superamerica gas is $3.19. Yikes.

herc.

Ironic is the economy won't really go in the crapper. I think it would but it may not.

Think about it. We are going to have to rebuild what the hurricane destroyed. The vicitims need housing. Which means wood, and process the wood, and deliver the wood, and new appliances, clothing, personal care items, paint, siding, windows, flooring and on and on and on. I am sure we aren't just going to leave it totally devistated.

So as ironic as it may seem the economy probably won't go totally down the tubes. Sad thing is all the prices to do these things are going to go up but our wages aren't, or going down, or getting outsourced to other countries. Its tough to try to survive when things go up but our wages essentially can't to compete (and we are already losing that battle) but yet expected to pay it.

I hope prices have come down a bit by the time you travel, but it really sucks for us since we're driving to FL Saturday. :(

Prices have jumped a whopping 75 cents per gallon in *just the past 5 hours* here.

:scared1:
