Hi! Planning our next cruise, and I'm looking over some of the docs from our last cruise to help me determine the budget.

Can anyone help shed some light on this for me:
Last cruise we went with my sister's family. We stayed in connecting 5D verandah rooms on the dream (us in 6030, them in 6028) Each party had 4 people, 2 adults + 2 kids. At the time, their kids were 12 and 8, and ours were 5 and 2.

I'm looking at our reservation confirmations, and they paid about $300 more than us. It's not a huge amount, but I'm curious about why, since we were basically taking the same trip, same room, etc. Was it because their kids were older? If so, does anyone know the general age/price breakdown?

Just trying to get a handle so I know what to expect this time around.

Thanks!!

3rd and 4th persons in a room are generally cheaper than the first 2 persons. And those 3/4 person rates can vary depending on age. I do know that a 2 year old only pays port fees/taxes and no actual room charge. Not sure about the other breakdowns.

That must have been it - with our youngest being 2 (and that was a lucky break, she was just a couple of weeks shy of 3! )

Thanks!

It changes with age, and they do charge for under 2. We have gone on the same cruise twice with a then 13 month old and then at 26 months and it was $150 or so different.

unless port charges change?

Yeah, OK, I was just coming back to change my reply. I found this information:
All cruises are priced based on two adults in the stateroom. So, even if you are one adult traveling with a child, the price is the same as if there were two adults in the stateroom. After the two adult price, the third and fourth passenger in the stateroom are charged a lower rate. If you are traveling alone, DCL will charge you 100% of the second adult's cruise fare (not including port fees and taxes) in addition to the full fare for the first adult.

**NOTE** Teenagers will be Charged adult fares (13-17). Child rates apply to ages 3-12. Children ages 0-2 pay 50% of the child rate.

Sorry about the misinformation, but that's the way it "used to be". Probably about 8-10 years ago.
