Prices on items at the theme parks have risen as of today

Is it possible that tariffs are the reason for the price increase? Most of the plastic stuff probably comes from China. Of course just about everything at Disney probably comes from China, I'm just wondering if the souvenir stuff is the first for the higher costs.

We have this wonderful shop here called Primark that does all sorts of Disney t-shirts for super cheap. They do bags/accessories too and sometimes mouse ears!

WDWNews is reporting that the prices of Mickey Ears, the Bubble Wands and other stuff in the parks has risen about $2.00 each. So the ears are like $27-$28 now, the wands are $27 I think. Pricing is getting on up there. I have quit buying a lot of the t-shirts and such because of them getting close to, and some going over $30.

DW and I were discussing this after our last trip - the merch prices (particularly the clothing) have gotten out of hand- we basically stopped buying the shirts as well- unless they are for a special event - we remember going to WDW and the shirts were around $14 and the sweatshirts were $18-20 - now, once a sweatshirt has as sequin or a speck of glitter on it, you're talking $50+

I'll be honest though I run into that outside of Disney for sure. I mean once you put an official sticker for college football, for soccer, for NFL, for NBA, for MLB, etc the price goes up even if the design is very basic.

Heck I bought a hoodie from Costco of my college alma mater and it was $39.99 and that's cheap cheap cheap for an official hoodie. In normal stores that would run you around $45-$60 depending on if you could get it for sale.

What I will say is we didn't buy our t-shirts individually this past trip. We bought them as part of a 2 for $40 deal and $20 per t-shirt is probably our max as far as being really comfortable. But on that note I bought a t-shirt that is the same essentially as what I bought at Disney from Red Rock Canyon near Vegas and it was $18.99.

On the other hand I bought a really really cute Haunted Mansion tank top but I did feel like the $32.99 at Disney Springs (can't remember what store) for it was a bit too high for that.

I feel like from what the most compliants I've seen on the Boards is that the merch may not be as unique as it used to be so combined with the cost it makes it seem like it's not as good of a deal.

I love Disney merch. I love to look at it in the shops, I wear it all the time, I have stuff all over my house--I'm a big fan. It is disappointing how the quality has dropped while the prices have increased so much over the years. I have some Disney things purchased decades ago that still hold up, while some more recent purchases have deteriorated rapidly. As a shareholder I understand the business side of things, but I'd rather pay even higher prices for good quality stuff. :earsboy:
