Prices for dining plan

I just booked a trip for August and like others I am hoping for free dining.
I have never used dining plan before while visiting disney. Is there a place
on the web site that gives you prices for the plan? I would like to see if
it makes sense for my family to buy the plan.

I do know it is 38.99 per day for each adult. Not sure about the kids price because we don't have anyone that qualifies. . .hope that helps.

It's 10.99 a day for a child. Under 9 if I'm not mistaken.

A child is 9 and under. At age 10 they are considered an adult.

I went ahead and added dining to our trip in August (I am really hoping for free dining) however I will keep the dining plan even if there is no free dining offered, but I have a hard time seeing how it cost a family of 4 adults and 1 child $1007 to eat at WDW for 6 days That is our house hold food budget for 4 to 5 months.
I guess since we are getting sit down meals, but is it really a value if you are trying to go on a tight buget?

you can easily spent 1000 for 6 days... With 4 adults and 1 child for example doing the princess dinner in epcot would cost you $130... thats not even including tax and tip.

Yeah, me too. . .I think my food budget at home is more like 200 per week and there are only 3 of us. . .I haven't really figured it out but that seems about right.

As for the OP, I am still not sure it is a great value for us unless they offer it free. I mean really, we would never eat an appetizer each, a full meal and a dessert each at home and I live in a resort town where restaurant food is ASTRONOMICAL. We go to the Elephant Bar here and for the three of us to sit down to dinner and be absolutely stuffed costs about $65 with tax and tip (plus one or two alcoholic beverages thrown in there). And at Morton's steak house (one of the most expensive restaurants here) it costs us about $100 including tax and tip. Since the three of us on disney dining cost $38.99 per day, that is $116.97. Even with a sit down meal at DL California we probably just barely spend that much (and that includes snacks and a counter service meal).

I have to agree with this statement, we are going no matter what Disney decides to do or not do, we booked our room because the family suites at All Star Music are going fast, so we figured we might as well, plus we booked last year so we got the cheaper rate as a result.

First off I must say we are not home much. I work a full time job that provides two meals per day. I also attend college 3/4 of the time so I eat on the run a lot.
My son eats breakfast at home, snack at pre-school and lunch at day care, so pretty much my dh is the only one who eats at home much, but he also works full time so it out a lot.
We eat what most eat (eggs, beef, chicken, veggies, fruit) and shop at lot at Wal-Mart Super Center. It's funny because I never considered $200 a month for two adults and one child as a small food budget. We shop every two weeks and spend around $150 and that includes laundry soap, toilet paper, shampoo, etc. We do however spend very very little on snacks and junk foods. There is almost never any chips, ice cream, and candy sort of foods in our house.

The OP asked if Dining is worth the cost per day. That depends on you! If you have no desire to eat at the sit down restaurants at Disney, or want to save money by only going to one or two of those, then skip the Dining Plan. However, if you want to enjoy the TS meals, the dining plan is a great deal. In 1997, we went to Disney trying to budget $60 a day for two adults. We couldn't do it. Remember that was 10 years ago. In 2000, we upped the budget to $100 per day (average) and we were able to maintain that. In 2006, we went on the DDP, cost us $90 for 2 Adults & 1 child, and we were so full everyday we only needed the two meals per day.

So, again, if you are trying to keep costs down and don't eat TS, it is not worth it. If you have 10-14 year olds that would prefer to eat childrens portions it is not worth it. But if you are going to try and TS restaurants anyways, well worth it. And for free, holy cow, let's hope they do that again, huh?

Yes the dining plan is well worth the price! My problem is we are AP holders and I am trying to decide if it makes sense for me to get the dining plan,lose the discount on the room and have to add the price of a one day pass per person.

None of the resorts are booked completely at this time of year..... You will always be able to get into the resort of your choice no matter when you book. Even with the Free Dining plan.

Its Huricane season..... Not Christmas week !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RELAX, There will be plenty of rooms.

But the family suites are all already booked at All Star Music, so it is a good thing we booked when we did.
