Priceline tips, please!

I am so scared to bid for a hotel on Priceline. I did a car last year (Name your own price) and it was great. But I pretty much knew what I was getting.

Universal has made me so angry. We are locked into keeping our reservation...if I modify it, the price doubles....so no split Disney stay for us. Now we are left with VERY little money and need lodging for two nights.

It seems I read you can go on a website-don't remember the name- and see what star rating hotels have earned. Then you can go to Priceline, choose your area and star rating, bid, and sometimes get the specific hotel you were aiming for.

I am willing to gamble a little here, as long as I do some educated research first! Can anyone direct me to the website that gives out the star ratings? Thank you!

Either Bidding for Travel or Better Bidding are the sites that youare looking for. Better Bidding is a bit more friendly. I haven't done the Disney area but have used it many times and I would say I am usually about 85% sure of which hotel I am getting when I bid. Sometimes it is not exact but pretty close. never been disappointed

Just remember if you have more than 2 in your party, you might want to bid on hotwire vs priceline because priceline will only guarantee a room for two people. I usually take the risk and go with priceline because I can get better prices on priceline and have never had a problem getting a room for 4 people -- especially in a places like Orlando where most of the rooms are made for 4 people due to families going there for vacations.

As the PP said, look at betterbidding.com and biddingfortravel.com. They ask that when you finally decide to bid that you click through the link on their website so that they can get credit for the booking. It helps keep their website up without charging people.
