If I name my own price do I get to pick the number of beds in the room?

We have 2 adults & 3 kids so I don't want to get stuck with a King Bed.

Nope!

One Priceline reservation is only guaranteed to house two people. You can risk getting a room and then request the beds, but that is never guaranteed.

If you followed PLs rules, you'd have to get three rooms for your family.

It is a great service for us, because we are only two adults and don't mind getting what they assign us. We save so much money it is downright silly.

Well, if we were traveling now I might risk it, but not in August.

Thanks

I'm sorry it isn't an option for you. I bet they'd get so many more people bidding if they were able to change this one little thing.

My sister bids on rooms having three people, but she packs an air mattress in her car in case there isn't enough room.

We're a family of four and have never had a problem. Usually the hotel we end up at gives up 2 queens, but we did one king when the kid's were really young. I love bidding for hotel rooms! So much cheaper!

Yup, I definitely would do it if I could be sure we'd fit in the room and no way am I bidding on three rooms, wait, maybe I will but I'll bid for the total cost of 1 room and see what happens.:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Hotwire guarantees occupancy. I use Hotwire instead of Priceline when the kids are with us so that I don't worry about getting just a king.....and EVERY time I've used Priceline I've gotten a king bed.

I have gotten king rooms with Priceline, when I was travelling with DD, just us two. So, a king would work. But each time I have asked for 2 queens at check in, and got them. (Wash DC, Chicago, Philadelphia).

Of course, easy for us, it would have been ok either way....

Wouldn't you have to book two rooms anyway? How do 5 people fit in two beds?

I've used Priceline three times and never had a problem getting two beds. I just called the hotel directly once I had the reservation and put in a request for 2 doubles. I got a room for one night for this trip before going onsite at Universal, so I need to call soon and request my two beds myself.

We use priceline when its just Dh and I traveling, but when the kids are with us, we always use hotwire because you tell them how many beds you need. We did have a problem once with priceline and could only get a king size room. We worked it out because DS slept on the sofa and DD slept with us, but I never chance it anymore.

We used Priceline last month and when we got to the hotel we had a king bed. There were 3 of us. When I told them, we need the 2 double beds they charged us $40.00 per night for the 3 person in the room. I didn't realize you can only make the reservation for 2 people. I should have read the rules more closely.

I just used priceline for the first time for my trip to Hawaii. I got amazing deals ($103 per night - right on Waikiki beach) and gorgeous hotels so it was definately worth it. My suggestion would be just call the hotel after you book and request 2 beds.. thats what I did. I told them I was traveling with my kids. When I arrived I was not only given a room with 2 beds but it was upgraded to partial oceanview.

Like another poster said... Hotwire you can specify occupancy when you book and they are typically only 10-15 higher per night than you can get on priceline so that may be the way to go to guarantee you get the bedding you want.

I tried Hotwire. Unfortunately, I'd have to book two rooms as they have a maximum of 4 per room. No savings there. :sad2:

Well, usually we get a suite which has a sofa bed too, which is why I asked if I could specify number of beds. Two of the hotels I'm looking at in Gettysburg offer suites. (Country Inn & Suites and one other I forget the name) But we also get a roll away or use an airmattress - I just ask for extra bedding - never a problem to get it.:thumbsup2

Hmmm ... I think with 5 people you are stuck. At least with Hotwire you can enter 4 people in the room and select a hotel with the "Suite" designation BUT you may still get stuck with a King bed in the bedroom section. I guess you can pack an air mattress in case you don't get 3 beds.

I have AAA and the rates thru them were better than the rates thru Hotwire so I don't think I'll go that way, either. The best rate I found was pre-pay thru Marriott.

has anybody used priceline for airfare??

No. I don't like what they consider to be flying on the dates I put in. You can end up with a flight from LAX to Las Vegas that lasts 6 hours. Also, you can get stuck with a flight leaving at midnight on a Saturday (if you put in Sunday dates) and arriving at your destination at 6 am. Not bad for leaving, but you'd lose one whole vacation day that way.

I'e also used them for a car rental and *I*, the queen of Priceline, missed the part about having to pay $10 a day for an extra driver. I was so upset. It added $160 to my budget for our Hawaii trip.
