Anyone use Priceline for car rentals? How did it go? What company did you get? What was your price? For how long? Any and all info appreicated! Thanks!!

I've looked into and even bid on Priceline for car rentals, but found that it was rejecting bids equal to what was available for booking on the internet. I just couldn't get enough savings through Priceline to justify the hassle.

I'm a big fan of Priceline for hotels, but I didn't have luck with cars. May depend on time frame, though. Check out biddingfortravel.com for FAQ and recent prices.

I LOVE Priceline for car rentals! I have gotten Budget, Avis, Hertz, Alamo, and National. Alamo used to be the most frequent, but lately it's been Budget. I usually am only doing a rental for a weekend, so the prices I find with codes aren't all that great. I get the lowest price I can find and Priceline almost always beats it (you have to take into consideration that you will almost always get an onsite agency, and Hertz is almost as convenient as onsite). I have even gotten lots of free upgrades. I like the fact that Priceline is prepaid so they can't argue about extra fees. They seem to not peddle the insurance as aggressively if you are Priceline (except Alamo, which is usually the worst about ins.).

Priceline seems to help me out when I only need a short term rental. But I can almost always do better booking myself online if it is a weekly rental or longer.

Several times when I just needed a day or 2 at the last minute for one reason or another and could not find decent rates online I did well via Priceline. On the other hand I almost always put in a bid or 2 for family trips and have never yet beat online rates with codes for a weekly rental or longer.

Just look online using codes and see what the best rate you can find is and then bid accordingly.

I have gotten every one of their agencies except Budget and have never had any trouble. Good cars, good service.

I love to get luxury cars or rag tops when on vacation. And I have never found a deal better than priceline for those types of car. Check out betterbidding.com their forums are great for info on how to get your best deal and bid at priceline or hotwire.
