Has anyone had luck in using Priceline for car rentals in Orlando? I don't see many posts here about it or even on the Bidding For Travel website. Can you get just as good a deal using the discount codes on Mousesavers? I may need to stay offsite in August, so would need a rental, but want to get one at a really budget price!

Thanks for any input!

I've used priceline a couple times with great luck. One time got an economy for $11 day, another time a minivan for $20/day. However, I agree that on biddingfortravel, the rates haven't looked that great. I only try priceline if I feel I can save $3-$4/day. Both DH and I drive and I have found that sometimes if you book direct with the rental agency, they will let a spouse drive for no additional charge (and whether they do or not, you know it upfront), but with priceline sometimes they don't honor that. I would keep watching the codes, book your best deal, and bid on priceline a few weeks before flight time.

From time to time if Priceline rejects your bid, they will suggest a higher bid for you.

I suggest that you do not immediately rebid with their counter offer but continue to make lower bids to your liking.

You have to be careful (maybe avoide Hotwire or Priceline altogether) if you have special needs such as an extra driver or underage driver. The car rental agency might make up for the low priced car by having high surcharges for insurance, extra dirver, child seat. etc.

I just used priceline last night for an Orlando rental over Christmas time. I got a full size car for $21/day (15 days), which I felt was a good price for that time of year, and about 60% less than what Orbitz and hotwire were offering. You might want to bid less than I did- I started with $18, and I got a message that it would probably be too low and I should consider raising it before I bid. I am kind of regretting that, because I should have at least tried. It was my first experience with Priceline, so I hope it will go well! (I got Hertz, by the way!) Good Luck!

Funny, priceline turned me down for $21 a day for a July and an August economy car rental. I just booked on RezCenter.com for $20 per day (though I am posting to see if anyone has used L&M - they are on site before). Also direct with Dollar for $24 per day.

Good luck
Sandy

P.S. I got Rezcenter.com through the Orlando Airport site, I wanted to know who was onsite
FYI it's
Avis
Budget
Dollar
L&M
National
