Hertz accepted my bid of $13 a day for a full size car! Total with taxes is $154.19. MCO, seven days, 7/20-7/27. I had been looking for car deals on Costco's website and one rental company (I forget if it was Budget or Alamo) was $900 for the same car! CRAZY!

I have a reservation for our trip in June, but will try priceline when it gets closer. I have a minivan for a pretty good rate now, but like everyone here, I am looking for a better deal :) I did Priceline once before and got Hertz back in September. I wonder if that's the only rentals they deal with?

When I first priced a car for my May trip the prices where very high. But just 10 days before my trip I got an 8 day mid-size using Alamo website for $84 total. I used my insiders ID the Insiders corp ID 7015820 and the $40 off coupon. So don't fret now about those high prices wait till it gets closer to your vacation.

It's amazing how expensive car rentals have become. In '08 we rented a minivan for 8 days thru Dollar for $175 including tax.

$84 for an 8 day trip????? That's awesome!!!!

I have been playing around with Priceline for my upcoming trip to Reno. I am flying in there in June for 4 days. This is a 4 day trip that doesn't include a Saturday night keep, so it has been difficult to find a coupon code that will work.

I do have a mid-size with Advantage for 96.66. I have been bidding on Priceline at $10 ($70.xx total) and have been declined. I can live with the 96.66, so will continue to lowball on Priceline and checking on the rental companies websites to find a better deal. I prefer National's Emerald Club (though no Emerald Aisle in Reno), but they have been so high in Reno.

Travel safe!

You guys made me look at my rental car for next week. I did have it down to $200 w/taxes & fees (one way from MCO to car care center). Now it's down to $130 w/taxes & fees for 5 nights!

Car rental prices are so high right now. I just can't believe how high the prices have gone. We have a trip to Los Angeles in mid July, and with taxes, it comes out to $491.01 for 8 days. And that is the cheapest!:scared1::scared1:

I'll have to look in to hotwire. I've never used it before. Are there any tricks that I should know before bidding?
