Hello all, 1st time poster here.
I'm planning on taking my 9 yr old daughter to Disneyland Florida sometime next september. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what the overall cost of the holiday would be (including hotels and theme parks etc)
Thanks in advance :)

First of all :welcome:, :disrocks: you will become addicted!

As you havent said how many will be going I am assuming it is just you and your daughter. The price really depends on where you want to stay, (out of disney or in disney). Also there are 3 different grades of hotel in disney the deluxe, moderate and value resorts. Do you want to go to Universal, Islands of Adventure, Seaworld and Bush Gardens as well as disney?, there are many different types of tickets available. Do you want to hire a car? Disney have their own transport on site which takes you to all their parks and DTD (downtown disney) and some of the offsite hotels also do freebus transportation to many af the parks. I would think you are looking at £2000 to £4000 maybe more depending on what you want to do. I would suggest you go onto the Virgin web site and mess around trying different options without actually booking anything.

I can guarantee you will have as much fun planning your trip as you will actually going on it.

I agree...

You can do it as 'cheap' or as 'dear' as you want...some people think that it costs thousands and thousands (and i mean thousands!) to go to disney...it really doesn't..it can do mind ::yes:: !!!

It is like a mind field if you've never been...bella has given you a good outline of Q's you need to answer before you can really determine cost...

To give you an idea (sorry if you already know this :surfweb:) but disneys situated over hundreds of acres...disney as a whole includes Magic Kingdom (with cinderellas castle), Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios (formally MGM studios), Epcot, two water parks - typhoon lagoon and blizzard beach and an area called downtown disney with restaurants, shops and a really good all round atmosphere for people of all ages...

Universal is similar to a film studio with many of the rides based on movies such as The Mummy, Jaws, Twister, MIB and the newly created ride The Simpson. Islands of adventure is more of a theme park with rides again based on tv programmes such as Spiderman, Hulk, Jurassic Park.

Both Universal and IOA are based next to each other.

Seaworld you may've heard of....very nice park in my opinion...animal shows, rides etc...great for all ages.

Busch Gardens...i've never been but you do need to get a bus there and it takes a good few hours i'm told as its on th west coast of florida...

Hope this helps....you know where we are if you want anymore help...i'm sure i've forgot something but oh well....

and welcome...

Thanks for that help, yes just me and my daughter.
Want to drive and do all the theme parks is the disney area so Busch gardens is a bit far.
I dont want to spend a fortune but then again I dont want to scrimp and save as it will be a holiday of a lifetime for us:confused3

then if you just want to do disney i would recommend staying on site...therefore its only the disney tickets you would need.

Check out, as belle said, virgin holidays for example to give you a rough idea of prices....if staying onsite is a bit expensive for you then check out lake buena vista its very close by with easy access to the disney parks.

You might've also heard of international drive - i would recommend this area if you were planning to do ALL the parks. You can get some bargains here but if its just disney you are doing it would be pointless in having to travel 30 minutes each day just to get to the parks...

again would say stay on site and do just disney,as you will be going back,my once in a lifetime trip was in 92.had 18 off them now

As you are planning on September 2009 I would wait until August/September this year to find out when the free dining is planned - it is usually during part of September and if you are staying on Disney site it helps with cost! Although it is usually for deluxe and moderate Disney hotels only.

You can get some prices from www.virginholidays.co.uk and www.disneyworld.co.uk for hotel and flights.

What sort of budget do you have in mind?

I want to keep the price below 3 thousand if I can, but as I said before I dont want to scrimp either

Welcome
For Sept 09 dates I checked Virgin flydrive for both of you is £998 less 4% thru Quidco, brings it down to £959 then book a car thru USrentacar.co.uk will be about £200-£250 for 2 weeks, a hotel will cost anything from £15/night/room upto over £100/night depending on what you want, with a car our fave location is Lake Buena Vista, central to everywhere.
Busch is one of fave parks takes a long time on a bus but only 1 hour by car, very easy to get to.
You could wait for flight only but I would be tempted to book the flydrive at that price, or look in their holiday section and see how much with hotel included but its usually cheaper to book your own hotel.

Robert you don't say how long for? If it really is the "holiday of a lifetime" then I wouldn't just stick to Disney as you would be missing out on some other great attractions. If you are only going for 2 weeks then I would cetainly leave Busch Gardens out,but if you had the time it is a great park & it's only about 90 mins from WDW.So thinking along the lines of a 14 day Ultimate pass plus possibly a flex pass,I'd say about £450-£600 (depends if your daughter is 9 or under?) for passes. If you can get "free" dining then that can offset the supplement for staying on property,if not I would recommend Lake Buena Vista -5 mins from WDW- it has everything from cheap & cheerful to as much as you want to spend-It's worth bearing in mind that you don't actually spend alot of time in your room,so pick one with a decent pool!
Flights are going to be the crux, with the added fuel surcharges it's getting harder to find cheap deals, possibly consider one of the US carriers eg Continental, you will go via somewhere but it doesn't add too long onto your journey.
Check www.usrentacar.co.uk for car prices.
Anyway hope this helps
SD:thumbsup2

That should be easy to do if you go for a value resort at disney, and if you stay in disney you get free parking at all their parks. Also if you look at when the free disney dining plan is on offer even if it means paying more for your accomodation and up grading to a moderate resort you will save heeps on food, so you can take less spending money.

Our first trip was supposed to be a holiday of a life time too and it ended up taking over our life! watch out the disney bug is the easiest bug to catch!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Finally check your settings on your computer and then you should be able to personal message, I had problems with mine and now its easy!!

Personally we find staying just offsite LBV or similar and dining offsite is way cheaper than onsite with free dining in a moderate. But we prefer offsite and eating offsite, all options need to be looked at. Other option is half of holiday onsite and half offsite to see which is preferred.
