With the silly rule changes implied by DVC regarding buying resale I'm now curious as to what kind of discount is given on the annual passes if you're not a FL resident. I'm now weighing if it would be better to buy direct or if I'm still better off buying resale. The discounts on shopping and dining are also a perk but if I'm only saving a hundred dollars or so per trip then maybe the resale contracts are still the way to go.

The Platinum AP is regularly $797.69 including tax, according to AllEars. The DVC Platinum AP is $691.19, so a $106.50 savings. DVC owners can also purchase other levels of APs with varying blackout dates; regular customers cannot.

Do fl annual passes offer dining and merchandise discounts like they do in California? We get 15 percent on food and 20 on merch.

I don't believe so. To be honest, I never paid any attention. Fl AP does give you free theme park parking.

Interesting, we have a few levels here, a so cal pass that's basically an off peak weekday only pass, a deluxe pass that's just no summer Saturdays and minus spring and winter breaks and then the two new premium passes that replaced the former no block out days premium pass... One has Christmas break one doesn't, both offer free parking etc.

I had no idea how different Disneyworld is. I'm honestly afraid I might hate it lol. Planning your trip out months in advance, nicked and dimed all over the place, stuck on resort the whole time, etc... it may drive me nuts hahaha. My kids really want to go there though so we may try it out this fall

You make Disney World sound horrible! Just a friendly warning, but I don't think your chances of being hired as a Disney CM are that good.

Hahaha I hope it's not, I'd be excited to find a place as fun as Disneyland, just hearing people talk on here it seems like they took Disneyland and turned it into some corporate monster... As if it wasn't already hahaha. :)

Well it's hard to realize how big it is compared to DL until you've visited. You can drive for 15 minutes and still be on Disney property, lol. It's vast. The 4 parks are all several miles from each other. Over 20 Disney resorts. Separate Disney Springs/Downtown Disney area with its own ramp from the freeway. Water parks, golf courses, very spread out resorts that surround lakes. It will be very different, so yes I would recommend just sticking to Disney property the first trip, unless you have a car and really want to explore Orlando driving.

All WDW Annual Passes offer dining/merchandise discounts. Merchandise discount is typically 10%, dining is typically 10%. Depending on restaurant, dining discount may only be available during week and for lunch hours only.
