Anyone here flying out of Toronto to Orlando in the summer/fall/winter?

Have you purchased tickets yet, or waiting for the prices to drop? Do you think the prices will drop or increase? I'm kind of wondering if they will increase...

I'd really prefer to fly out of Toronto this time (it's just hubby & I) to get a couple of extra days. Rather than drive to Buffalo and stay overnight before & after the flight...

Right now it'd be $149 each-way per person plus tax = $840 odd. The price was as high as $229 in the past 6 weeks or so.

I'm no fortune teller but they're saying gas is going to go higher and higher. I can't imagine the airlines not increasing fares.

IF it were me and I found a price I was happy with I would grab it now.

AGREED :thumbsup2

It's kind of like selling shares or stock options. If you see a price that you're happy with and it makes financial sense then go for it. The other option is to take the gamble and wait to see if the price will go up or go down. I've been burnt on both sides of that issue. Flights can go the same way; with the price of oil increasing and summer coming gasoline prices should increase as well. This will make the overhead for airlines increase and I can guarantee that they will pass along this price increase to the consumer.

All of the reports that I've heard say that the price of oil will continue to increase in the future. Unstability in the middle east will continue to fuel (no pun intended) increase but may not be sustainable as we saw back in 2008.

Personally, I'm planning a trip for September and will be booking my flights in the next week or so but I'm alright with the fares that I'm seeing.

Hope this helps!

I'm travelling in December (only flying one-way into Orlando)

When I started looking at my flights about 2 weeks ago, the lowest were around $240. Last week they were $275. This week they are $295.

Still haven't booked anything. Considering waiting for the charters (i.e. Air Transat) to release their December schedule first.

I totally agree with this point, and I was happy with $149pp one way so I booked our July flights. I checked back after purchase, and our flight down already increased substantially, but it seems to fluctuate up and down quite a bit. Who knows....it's booked, and I feel better, so I guess that's worth something too!

Okay I'm a first time poster, just got off the phone with West Jet the very nice lady said that airline prices will have to rise to reflect fuel prices as they go up so does the cost to fly. The one thing she did mention was if I find a huge decrease in the cost of flights to Disney world after I booked they would refund me the difference minus the fee of 75 dollars so it would have to be substantial for me to benefit.:cool2:

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I ended up purchasing tickets at $149 ($298 round-trip) per person through Air Canada. I'm happy with that! Perhaps a special will come along that I'll miss, but I kind of wonder if those special short-sale tickets are for inconveniant flight times for us.

This morning when I checked, the flights are up $60 more each way ($209). It would have cost us another $280 or so!

We just booked out of Toronto for 440 each (in August) as I was watching prices rise as well. It was about 300-350 to fly out of Buffalo, so for the extra it was a no-brainer to go out of Toronto. My kids have never flown out locally so we're looking toward the 15 minute drive instead of the 2 hour drive :)

I just booked our return tickets last night. Two days ago it would have been $290/person one way (WJ direct back from Orlando); last night it had already gone up to $320/person so I just booked it seeing as it was the flight that we wanted to come back on. I haven't booked my flight down yet but there was a really good United flight at $210/person a few days ago but now that's up to $330/person. There are more flight options for us to go down so I might just keep waiting to book the flight down.

I have never booked flights separately before so I hope I'm not doing something stupid...

I just booked our tickets to fly one province over from Alberta to BC for my brother-in-law's wedding this July long weekend (July 30-Aug01)..... I was getting leary about leaving it to chance because with the gas prices rising, I am sure airline prices won't be long to follow!! They say it's only supposed to get worse/more expensive as the summer approaches.

I can't believe that what I paid to fly 1 province over, I could have flown our family to Orlando! The tickets where $149 each going (to Victoria) and $159 each returning to Edmonton! That's crazy!!! $1,600.00 for 4 tickets to BC, but this occassion is something we just can't miss!!! My hubby is his brother's best man, and I am standing with my SIL-to-be.... It's a pretty expensive 5 days, but I checked the past months and the future-forcasted prices for each week up to and including our departure date of July 28th....and prices where staying stable at $149 one way.....No sign of seat sales in effect!!! I guess gone are the days of $99 each way, airtravel is so unpredicatable!
I hope I won't regret buying now, I figured it was better to be safe than sorry if prices do skyrocket! :scared1:
