Hi,

I just called the Suites dept at DLP and the price for a room only in the castle club or a suite is MORE than the price when it includes tickets for park entry. Anyone explain that?

Gone are the days it seems when you could book room only and buy annual passports fantasy and still have change left over from a package deal.

Also seems that prices have gone up 28% in 18 mths for Castle club, perhaps Mickey has not heard of the economic recession?!

Grateful for any comments/thoughts

When were you trying to book for?

Offers like extra night free or under 12s free arent applicable with room only so this can often bump the price up.

there again are suites and castle club included in the extra nights free offer anyhow so that wouldnt apply.

Hi, spoke to them on Friday 2nd Jan - they said that Castle club rooms do not benefit from the special offer. The price difference was just £100 more expensive than room only, but this still seems entirely illogical!

It seems more and more that Disney don't actually like having AP holders use their hotels. They introduced the 90 day rule, where you can only get your discount 90 days or less before your holiday, then they quote room only prices that are more than full price with tickets (even where no special discounts apply).

However when they have a glut of rooms they want to get rid of, they introduce a massive short term discount (like the current 50% off) and hope all the AP holders come running.

And we do.......

I don't understand the room-only concept at DLRP at all. As you rightly point out, often the cost of room only is more expensive than a package :confused3 .

I tried to book room only to,, Im going in November and was also going to buy AP's to use the January to but it was £20 less to have room only so not worth it in the end

I am going on Saturday for 3 nights and it was cheaper to go with the package price than the room only price because of the extra free night offer. Now I have tickets that we will not need because we all have APs.

Unfortunately this is reason why AP holders will often stay off-site.
Castle Club is in high demand and therefore does not need to make it attractive for AP holders :confused3

I agree with everything said so far tbh.

I'll only stay onsite now if it's financialy beneficial to me. The last two holidays I have booked with Disney have been, £176 for 5 people for 3 nights @ DCR in December and £56.40 for 2 nights at the Cheyenne for 2 people in March.

Maybe the current 50% off offer is a sign that DLRP are struggling to fill rooms due to the 'Credit Crunch' and maybe, just maybe AP holders will benefit.

have you tried expedia i got some cheaper prices on there

Expaedia prices for DLH looked no cheaper but they don't provide Castle Club accomodation. Thanks anyway.

Seems from looking through the forums that it is a common problem now to find room only is more expensive than a package. Seems Disney want to stop us buying Annual passports so makes it prohibitive.
