I've recently read that we can have our laundry done same day as well as getting items pressed. What does this cost? It would be great if the dressier items we need for dinner and such are pressed after being stuck in our suitcases for the journey-and well, I hate ironing-and don't plan on doing any until I HAVE TO (like when I get home...)

I'm with you on the whole ironing thing! In fact I was going through my Passporter this morning and crossing things OFF the packing list - like laundry detergent! :p

pressing and laundry is going to be worth its weight in gold-will add it to the "budget"...

Where can I get the cheapest Passporter?

Hi jlp651!

I hate ironing-and don't plan on doing any until I HAVE TO (like when I get home...)

My son and I had so much dirty laundry when we arrived home after our first cruise that I took everything to the local cleaners and picked it up a few days later. The extra cost was worth every penny as we had time to put our cruise album together and relax rather than abruptly reenter those daily routines...

When is their last pick up to do laundry on the ship?

I agree with you and did the same last year after our four day. We didn't waste one minute of vacation time with laundry or ironing. When we returned we took a bag to the drycleaners and another to the laundromat that does it for you. It was worth every cent. It was the first time I didn't need a vacation after my vacation. I am planning on doing the same thing this year. Why not -like its really going to matter after what I'll charge on the ship! :p

I'm hoping its cheaper on the ship...if not I could take it to a laundry-didnt think of that...I'll have to price those out...last I knew they ran about 50.00 for 50 lbs...will have to look-you're right definately worth every penny!

If you pack your formal clothes in a garment back, and put each item in a separate drycleaner's plastic bag you won't need to have anything pressed at all. We had DH's suit/2 shirts, my black dressy pants outfit, an extra dressy shirt, and two other separate outfits packed in our garment bag, each in it's own dry cleaner's bag and nothing was wrinkled.

Hi Chattyaholic.

If you pack your formal clothes in a garment back, and put each item in a separate drycleaner's plastic bag you won't need to have anything pressed at all.

Unless, of course, if you pack wrinkled clothes to begin with...

Buckaroo's Dad: But why would anyone purposely pack wrinkled clothes to begin with??

Since we'll have spent a week at WDW before the cruise, I'm going to have to face the dreaded "laundry" problem.

This time around, I'm definitely going to let them press the items. I remember being freshly showered with my hair looking just right. I went to iron a few things and returned to our room as a sweaty, frizzy mess.:p

Hi Chattyaholic!

why would anyone purposely pack wrinkled clothes to begin with??

I never said "purposely." You see, being a single custodial parent, I take care of my son (cook, clean, laundry, shop, read with my son, review his homework, get him to karate, bowling, archery, golf, chess club, band practice, visit Borders, arrange play dates and so on), work a full-time job, manage my Mom's financial affairs and blah blah blah - I'm sure you understand. Step into my "bachelor's pad" (aka home) and you'll see exactly how someone might (not purposely) pack wrinkled clothes... lol.

Or you could do what my boyfriend does when he does laundry...leave it all in the baskets unfolded until I come along to do it!!! *laugh*

I have some linen balck trousers which are not wrinkle free at all (why did I ever buy linen ;)LOL) so I'm gonna pack them wrinkled and get them pressed on board - this sounds like a neat idea :)

Don't sweat it BD! It isn't just single parents but even in those "traditional" two parent households where both are working, kids are busy, blah, blah, blah some things just don't get done!

I have finally said I am NOT folding sox anymore. When I fold laundry it is in my bedroom, everyone is responsible for collecting it from there before they go to bed at night and the sox go into a wicker basket sitting on the cedar chest at the foot of the bed. Every morning folks rummage.

As for ironing...it gets done when I have time or (as is more usually the case) when I want an "excuse" to watch something on tv in the middle of a Saturday afternoon! The only time of the year it is kept up is during NCAA tournament time! :jester:

Deb

I'm with you on the sox! I don't even bother...

Well, I bought all new clothes for the cruise so none of it is wrinkled. But they may become disposable if they dont all fit back in the suitcases
