So I read the thread saying what a good deal the tickets were at the Canadian Disney Stores and so I called - I apologize but I only got pricing for what we are requiring:

3 day base - 225.78 adult / 190.64 child CANADIAN
5 day base with Waterpark - 289.70 adult / 252.42 child CANADIAN

Then I went to the first site I found offering discounted Disney tickets - Mapleleaftickets.com:

4 day base (special offer of 5th day free) - 227.00 adult / 191.00 child US (a better deal IMHO)
4 day base (5th free) with Waterpark - 276.00 adult / 242.00 child US

Even with the exchange, the US price is a much better deal!! What am I missing that everyone was saying the DS prices were so much better???

Your prices from the DS
3day base - $225.78 CAD

Mapleleaf price
3day base - $225.00 USD

The difference is the exchange rate which in this case would save you roughly $48. Someone correct me if this is wrong, I'm a little tired today.

It's actually $227US for a 4 day base (1 extra day than the CDN ticket) and they have an offer of an extra day free. So 5 days for the $227 US - even at the exchange rate, this is a better deal. The CDN stores do not offer the 4 day tickets.

But you can upgrade the DS ticket to a 5day pass at Guest Services after using it once for only $10.64 USD. Which works out to be roughly $12.83 plus your inital purchase of $225.78 = $238.61CAD

Compare that to a 4day plus 1 free day from Mapleleaf tickets at $227USD which is roughly $273.76CAD

So the DS is still cheaper by $35.15 CAD.

Once a ticket is used, the amount of money you paid for it kinda doesn't matter. Once used, the 3day ticket is locked in at the current WDW gate prices. Then you only pay the upgrade difference, which in this case is only $10.64 to get a 5day pass.

I hope I'm making sense?

I am hoping someone might chime in.....

We tried adding a day to our passes a couple of years ago and they wanted $35 dollars more - and that is at the Disney Parks that we did this so I am shocked to hear that you have heard it can be done for $10!!

It would make sense in terms of why they are offering 5th day free......

where can I read information on upgrading tickets while at the parks??

The following link is from a CM who works in Guest Services and is an expert on WDW tickets.

I'm not trying to feed you information that's incorrect! You asked why everyone thinks the passes at the DS are a good deal, and I showed you.

Ticket prices have changed over the years making them a great deal the longer you stay. The key is using the ticket before upgrading it!

I got the following from mousesavers.com
(gate price for admission to one theme park per day, including tax)

# Days Adult (ages 10 and up) Child (ages 3-9)
1 $79.88 $67.10
2 $158.69 $133.13
3 $225.78 $190.64
4 $233.24 $195.96
5 $236.43 $199.16
6 $239.63 $202.35
7 $242.82 $205.55
8 $246.02 $208.74
9 $249.21 $211.94
10 $252.41 $215.13

If the retail difference is only $10 why would it cost more than $10 to upgrade?Once again, the key is using the pass once before upgrading it!

Perhaps I can add a little here.

The PP said the 'use the ticket first' . This is correct, once you have entered a park with that ticket their system can no longer tell where the ticket came from or how much you paid. Say, for example, that you got a discounted ticket. If you try to upgrade that ticket before it is used at least once you will have to pay first, the difference between what you paid and gate price. Then you have to pay for the upgrade.

I have done this with success with tickets that I got from Airmiles. I paid nothing for the tickets and got them upgraded to add more days and the no expire option. I only paid for the 2 extra days(approx $4) and the cost of the no expire($80).

If you are going to compare tickets from the DS you need to compare a 3 day to a 3 day. Also, I have read many negative threads about mapleleaftickets. There is another site that has a better rep and they will ship to Canada for free www.undercovertourist.com
