How far back can you get a price adjustment from?

When I called the store last week, they told me 2 weeks for a price adjustment.

As long as you can return the item, you can get a price adjustment. Just return the item and buy it back.

But Toys R Us raises the prices on a lot of the most popular toys, like LEGO sets, by about 10-20% right before Christmas. So even if something is on "sale" now, it might have been cheaper when you bought it.

The LEGO City 25% off sale this week is a joke, because they raised prices on LEGO City sets 20-30% last week!

So, for example, the Helicopter Transport set was $40, was raised to $50 a few days ago, and is now $37.50 at 25% off.

The more I shop and read about TRU and their shady dealing, the more I start looking elsewhere. I was really displeased on how they handled an order I made online that they eventually canceled when it dropped out of stock. Then I tried to find the item (Mickey Mouse Choo Choo toy) in store via their website. They listed item for the 5 "closest" TRU stores, and by close I mean two being over an hour away. Anyhow, according to the website 3 of the 5 had it in stock. I called those 3 before I made the trek to see HOW many were in stock, assuming if it was just 1-2 they would be gone. Well, all 3 that I called that said IN STOCK online were out of stock. The one online that said OUT OF STOCk I then called and guess what, 4 in stock!! Of course they would not allow me to buy it over the phone or hold it for me at all.

You are exactly right. The item I purchased at full price last week was $59.99. Today it was $69.99, so at 25% it came to $52...which is only $8 less. What a scam that store is!
