Previous DVC BWV owner...thinking about coming back

Hello,

We bought 350 pts at BWV when they opened. We sold the points in 2002 through the Timeshare Store. Basically I think we had too many points. We have a June 21-28, 2007 trip planned, staying at a value resort. This got me thinking about DVC again. My mother-in-law and brother-in-law both have DVC so I can get whatever special deals that are currently being offered through them. However, I don't want to bring the idea up to my wife (or her mother/brother) until I'm clear about a few things.

Here are my questions:
- SSR is currently going for $101/pt with a $10 discount through DVC right?
- Buying through a current owner can you get SSR at $86/pt?
- Are new Animal Kingdom Villas (AKV?) are being offered to current members at the $101/91/86 price? These won't be available until 2008 and not available to non-owners at a higher priceuntil next month correct? Could I buy into these through my relatives? If I buy AKV can I book at another DVC property now, before AKV is built?
- I read somewhere that non SSR owners can book SSR and get free food through the dinning plan...is this true?

Finally if I want to buy less than 150 points, can I do this through my relatives? I understand not directly, but they can buy the points and then "resell/redeed" them to me right?

I guess what I'm trying to figure is this. My value resort week + food plan is going to cost about $2150. 75 points at AKV at $91/pt = $6825. If I buy that and can book at SSR (borrowing to get the 123 points) and get free food, I can apply the $2150 I was going to spend to DVC. Am I doing the math right?

I could also buy a <150 point contract through resales for around $86pt, but many of those do not have current year points.

Thanks!

John

There are no special deals available to relatives of members at this time. The $86 F&F program ended about 3 weeks ago. SSR can still be purchased for $91 with a minimum new purchase of 150 points at least for a little while longer.

You could purchase a smaller contract thru resale and that may be your best bet if you want fewer than 150 points. AKV can only be purchased by exisitng members for $93 per point - with a 100 point minimum. Sales to the general public will begin in March - reportedly when the pricing will also increase to $104 per point and minimum purchase at 160 points.

There is no free dining plan option at SSR or any other resort right now - although there have been promotions the past couple of years with free dining as long as you paid rack rate for your accommodations made thru CRO. Those have usually been during late August and September and have never been an option for DVC members staying on points - but the dining plan may be added for DVC stays thru MS.

If your relatives purchased an add-on (it would have to be in their names) it would be possible to resell it to you - but would require going thru the ROFR process and would also include additional closing costs to have the name on the deed changed. At this point, that could not even be started until after the AKV contract has closed - and that won't occur until after the resort opens in September.

Good luck with your decision.

I would also imagine that your value resort plan includes the tickets. You would have to factor ticket prices into your equation, as well as food ($38/adult per day with DVC).
