Is there a way to deactivate charging privileges from my two kids magic bands?
I did put a pin code on for all the bands but know realize that I want to prevent them from charging. But I don't see a way to do it on MDE.

When you check in, they will ask you if you want to enable charging on the bands...that's when you can tell them not to enable it on the kids'...that's how we did it...gave our daughter a Disney Reward card to use for purchases.

I think you have to wait until you check in and have them do it for you.

Agree we never give our kids charging privaleges. I remember our first family cruise the first thing I did was remove them from our cards.

I was glad we did one of my daughters friends lost their card and another one charged a ton of stuff without the parents knowing.

You can also put a pre-paid balance on at check-in that allows charging but limits to a certain amount. We do this for our teen because we allow him to eat on his own, but we don't want him going hog-wild with the amount and type of food he buys. He is given a certain amount, and when it's gone, it's gone.

I'm guessing all this extraneous stuff is in addition to saying, "kids, don't charge anything"? Being told NO pretty much worked when I was a kid.

I've always given my kids charging privileges on vacations - WDW, cruises, waterparks - and I either give them a verbal limit, or else they have to ask first. Not once has any of them reached their limits (usually $20). They know that if they go over, not only are they paying me back, but they are in trouble.

That's the sort of answer I was hoping to hear. Good on you for communicating your expectations, and letting your children think for themselves.:thumbsup2

I always gave my kids charging privileges...but if you really don't want them to be able to charge anything....just don't give them the pin number. My sister usually goes with us and technically has charging privileges..but since I never gave her the pin number she can't charge anything.

I agree. We gave out kids a credit card at 16 that was tied to one of our accounts. They knew what they were allowed to buy with it. If they were going to put something on it that we were not paying for they told us and paid us for it immediately. I think it is important to teach kids how to use credit and show that you trust them.
