Preventing blisters form sandals?

The end of last summer I found a pair of Nike walking sandals on sale. They looked nice, were comfy in the store so I bought them. The were the kind with two velcro straps across your foot. I wore them to the park one day and got a blister from the straps so bad.Luckily I brought my Skechers sandlas, which are totally comfy. Too bad the Skechers were already looking very worn last year. For our summer trip I don't know what to wear. Is there any way to prevent the blister on the Nikes? Do I dare wear gray sandals that were once shiny white? I don't think they make my SKechers anymore either. Crocs and me don't mix so that's out. Sneakers are way too hot for me, I need air on my feet. Any ideas?

Body Glide works well. Try applying that before you put on your sandals. I always try out new sandals by wearing them while walking on my treadmill for several days before I will wear them to DW. After one hour I know if I will get blisters. I have had success with Propet sandals. I buy them a half size larger than my regular size, because my feet tend to expand in the humidity and heat. Each person and their feet are very different. Maybe you can find anotaher style of the same company that made your comfortable sandals. If nothing else, wear yo9ur comfortable sandals. DW is not so much stylish, but survival!

I was totally going to suggest Body Glide as well!!!!
I discovered it from my other obsession: backpacking and hiking.
Because I always backpack with my hiking sandals so I can walk through streams and such. Wet sandals developes blisters and chaffing....so Body Glide to the rescue!!!!!

It works like a charm. I even put a little on my feet's problem areas when I'm going dancing or wearing strappy heels.

What about Dr Scholl's moleskin? We put it on foot "hotspots" & it worked nicely. You can't put it over blisters however. We're going to be sure to have Bodyglide along on our next WDW trip.

Bodyglide here too! :thumbsup2 I put it on certain spots before we go out in the morning and never have a problem. Dick's Sporting Goods sells it..about $9.99 I think. Actually looks like a deodorant stick!

We used any cheap solid anti-perspirant. My DH wore his sandals, my DD wore her flip-flops, and the rest of us wore our sneakers. Not one blister and a lot cheaper than body glide. Also used it on the inside of our thighs. Stopped chaffing and our shorts from riding up.

Another fan of Body Glide here! As far as shoes I love my Teva Mush flip flops. At least one pair make every trip with me and they're the ones I always seem to wind up in. If I happen to get a blister, my Teva Mush are the only ones I can wear. My feet love them!

I wouldn't worry so much about what your shoes look like, and wear your most comfortable ones. I have some old, beaten-up Reebok sneaker "mules" that have seen better days, but have successfully done two WDW week-long vacations in them with no blisters. Didn't bring them on my last trip and sure wished I had - I got a terrible blister.

We wear Tevas, as well. Will need to give the body glide a try! I actually carry moleskin and scissors with me, because it seems like the kids don't complain until it's too late. If you already have a "hot spot" and can't switch shoes, it is your only choice. If there is a clean blister, depending on the size of it I will either cut a circle out of the moleskin or just put a big patch over the top of it. It will stick when bandaids won't and keeps out dirt- but you have to leave it there until it falls off on its own, which might be a few days!

I'm glad you asked this question, because I had a similar problem with my Teva sandals last year - not blisters, but very sore where the straps are.. I wanted to keep them snug so I wouldn't get blisters on the bottom of my feet (like on a past trip). I just wanted to add that you should wear whatever makes you comfortable - who cares what they look like! I would pick an ugly comfortable pair of shoes over limping around the parks with blisters any day!

When I went to Disney last I used a product called Blister Bomber. This stuff is amazing;no blisters or chafing. The best part about this stuff is that it comes in a portable container slightly larger than chapstick. I kept this stuff in my pocket and when either of my kids or I felt a hotspot I applied it to the area and off we went to enjoy the rest of the day pain free.
This stuff goes on and stays on all day!

They have a website with all kinds of info, check it out.

Just bought these yesterday and hoping they prevent blisters when my boys start wearing their new football cleats for practice in the hot summer heat. I'll try moleskin too! Oh both the blister block and the Monistat are small so pocket/travel friendly.

Who cares what your shoes look like, as long as they're comfortable? I say wear your comfiest shoes (even your beaten up Sketchers) and don't worry about what they look like. Bring back-up pairs of shoes, too, just in case.

If you do want to try some newer shoes, be sure to wear them 10-12 hours a day for several days while you're still at home to see if they're going to work. As you already discovered, a pair of shoes you might wear for a few hours at a time at home won't work at WDW. Remember, you're on your feet all day long at WDW, in the heat and humidity.

I ended up in the same situation a few trips ago; wore my regular workout sneakers at WDW, thinking they were well broken in. Ended up with blisters halfway through the first day, and was so glad I'd tossed my old, crummy (broken in) Reeboks into my suitcase.
