I have a thing for shooting the sky at night. I do it all the time. So I thought I would start a thread where we can psot our sky pictures. I'm sure I can't be the only nut who does this all the time!

Here's one I took out behind my house.

But I cheated, its an HDR.
This one, however, is not. I like the deep blue and cirrus (?) clouds.

It stands for High Dynamic Range. Its a post-processing technique when you blend three differently exposed photos into a hybrid that accurately depicts the dynamic range of the shot. Without it, the trees and building would have been much darker in the shot. Here's the link to the Wikipedia page on it.

I use Photomatix Pro from www.hdrsoft.com to make mine.

PS I love the deep colors in your photo. I wish we got purples and oranges like that more often out here

Great idea for a thread! I don't usually shoot night skies but I'll try to think of it more often.

I did take this on Disney Wonder to remember what our view looked like from our verandah (the camera was balanced on a wine box on the railing, LOL).
