Pretty darn happy with my DVC membership and Room availability

I like to read all of the comments. We must not get caught up in a " Disney World Fish Bowl". There is a lot of money that has been spent by many members. We should be as informed as possible.

I read a lot of it too, but I also take a LOT of it with a grain of salt. I know from my own experience that what ruins another person's vacation is not even going to be a blip on my radar.

I must say that we've always been able to get from a studio to a grand villa at our home resort of BWV with no problems at all. Now the villa, this past Christmas-NYD complete with ALL of the family and grandkids, took day by day calling, but it was not a problem in doing. We're a family that plans our Disney vacations very soon after finishing our last one. So we call at the 11 month window and have always gotten the rooms/view desired.

We are very satisified DVC/BWV owner's.

I have really always been pretty happy with avialbilty. However, I tend not to be very picky (did a study if I don't book HH or VB all rooms are at Disney)

IMHO the DVC boards are the "Doom and gloom" boards. I try to read about half of what's posted as I find it just amazing how miserable most posters seem to be. (I have yet to figure out why a lot of them don't sell LOL!) I also cruise lots of other Disney boards and the DIS DVC is by far the most negative....

I agree Carol! There are a couple of other discussion boards that seem much happier but I do get great info. from the DIS and enjoy it immensely. I too and not sure why some folks dont sell and find something that makes them happier, lifes too short for complaining!

We are among those that are super happy with DVC and its availability.

Last week I booked at VWL studio during Presidents week - got exactly what I wanted.:thumbsup2

2 weeks ago i booked a studio at BWV for early March spring break - got exactly what I wanted.:thumbsup2

Today I booked AKV studio, savanna view, for the week after 4th of July - got exactly what I wanted.:thumbsup2

We LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE DVC and cant wait to buy more points!!!!! I must really need to get a more exciting life b/c I find myself planning DVC trips constantly. ;)

I am a new DVC owner, after buying I read all these boards and was all riled up about booking quickly for Thanksgiving and worried about getting something, etc. But the more I have read there are a lot of people that do cry 'the sky is falling' whenever they don't get what they want! I wonder if these same people are willing to talk about the 8 other times they got just what they want and when they wanted it! I guess you can get spoiled and feel that your vacation would be ruined if you don't get that exact resort, exact location in the resort and 'your' room!

I am happy and looking forward to staying in different places, but from what I have seen and read, I will be happy anywhere! In the meantime I will keep reading.....:surfweb:

I made my first reservation on December 26.... BWV 1-bedroom standard view for July 6-12. I didn't get my first choice of dates July 13-19 (7/15 was not available for SV and I couldn't use developer points on a wait list), so I changed dates. I was upset about not getting my first choice because it was supposed to be an anniversary celebration, but I got over it. I think the earlier week will probably be better anyway. I'm looking forward to going. I'm sure something would have been available at other resorts, but we wanted to save points with the standard view.

Thanks for the positive messages. :thumbsup2

We are fairly new DVC members (since August 2006) and we've been pleased with the availability and ease of making reservations. We had a slight nervousness with a "missing" AKV concierge level ressie, but it was resolved today. I've always had a pleasant CM when speaking with MS. :)

We joined in July 2006 and couldn't be more pleased. We have so far gotten everything that we've wanted. My general MO is to make my reservations at the 11 month mark at SSR and if i want to change do so at the 7 month mark and have gotten everything that I want we doing so. I think for DVC to work for you early planning is a must, if you can't plan ahead you have to be flexible and be happy to get what's available.

I have found that since becoming DVC Members a few years ago I am always happy with my reservations. No trip is the once in a lifetime so if I don't get the resort I'm dying to try-no big deal I'll get it on another trip. I used to go to Disney once every few years and mostly stayed ina Moderate. Now I go all the time, get to stay in a big room, with lots of space for me and my kids, I get a kitchen and a fridge and still don't cook on vacation, I get to put my kids to bed and still get to relax with my husband and not have to worrry about a light waking the kids up, etc. What resort I am at has never made or broken my vacation. When I plan early I usually get what I want, when I plan late I get what's left and I'm still thrilled!

Great news :)

We also ahd a success story as bought AKV beginning of August and had flights booked for October for two weeks at WDW. Managed to get 13 out of our 14 nights at SSR, with developer points, after two phone calls and waitlisted for the 14th, which was midway through the two weeks. The waitlist came through in about 2 weeks, on borrowed points from next UY, so by early September all booked :)

Very happy as thought it may not be possible :cool1:

Oh and yes love Boxing Day :thumbsup2

Claire ;)

I am very pleased with the availability of rooms and the ease of making reservations. Of course, I always book at the 11-mo window for the 4-resorts I own (AKV, VWL, BCV, and BWV), and it's easy to book the two at WDW that I don't own (OKW and SSR) at the 7-mo window.

My only gripes about DVC include the ongoing issues with the dvcmember web site and the difficulty of getting through the busy signals when attempting to book during peak seasons.

Otherwise, I am a happy, satisfied and content DVC member!

We too have had success in booking and in using the waitlists.

Each time we go to Food & Wine during the infamous "jersey week" we have been able to get BWV or BCV. Had to use waitlists for a few but they all came in.

as well, two bookings this last past month made less than 30 days out. One for Marathon week.

Happy to see so many positives posts. In general I think the tone on the DISboards is getting better. There have been a few of those ultra negative housekeeping posts lately that didn't generate quite as much sniping as previously.

We love our DVC and look forward to staying at all the resorts.

We're like this. I sometimes wonder If we should be embarassed at how easy we are to please.

Rarely have we had to resort to 2nd choices, even at 7 months during busy seasons. The times we've gone during holidays, we have booked at 11 months, so we got those requests too.

There was a post awhile back by someone who said if they got building 29 (I think) at OKW, they would refuse the room, forfeit the points, and pay to stay somewhere else!!! I was amazed.

I'm glad to see so many positive replies on here. We are getting in on DVC in the next couple months, but I was starting to get nervous because of booking times.

My hubby and I usually book pretty last minute ( we decided where to go on our honeymoon the day before we left (disney if anyone cares :goodvibes ) but since getting two puppies we now book 3-4 months out so we can get boarding and stuff worked out. We are always really flexible about the dates and rooms we stay in, we kind of work around what is available and leave it as that. We also travel at weird times of the year, like sep., oct, jan-mar.

I'm feeling better after reading all of these replies.
