Pretty darn happy with my DVC membership and Room availability

I know there are a lot of threads about problems with availability, I just had to say I'm pretty happy with DVC right now.

We have Vero beach reservation for April 08 school vacation I had made a while back (maybe 6 months out?) Sun-Friday and the airfare was going to kill us. We were contemplating driving from MA (not to thrilled about that with a 4 year old and a 10 month old). I finally found a resonable ticket on Airtran if we leave on a Tuesday and come back on a Thursday..

This morning, MS was able to get me a studio at OKW for Tues-Friday and a cash discount at Vero for the weekend nights.

We saved $1000+ AND extended our vacation by 4 days.

:cool1:

Maybe the bar is set too low, but I'm pretty happy they had anything at three months out.

I really wonder how much it is people that are just used to doing things certain ways or remembering when there was more availability. I have made mention as others how there really is availability, just not at the resort they want! I am sure the same is true with the cash hotels at WDW, there are usually rooms available, just might not be your first choice of hotel. If you are flexible it seems to work out. Now, I hope after saying that I am not destined to not having availability for the next 50 years. :rotfl:

We've had very good luck getting the rooms we want for when we want to go. Sometimes we have to settle for a second choice, but we don't mind.

Nice to see positive posts instead of all the negative ones we've been seeing lately

Me too! We have ALWAYS gotten what we want, when we want it. Even during Easter break, and February break (for here in the N.E.) I just got 3 nights and four days in the preferred view studio I wanted for F&W festival in the BWV! We are very happy with our DVC membership, availability and overall service.
Have fun on your vacation!

It is nice to see this type of post. I think most of us have happy endings and just don't tell others about it too often.

I had a reservation at AKL Concierge for 9-16 March. Due to a good deal with SWA I changed my travel plans to the 8th -17th of March. I called member services on Boxing Day expecting them to be closed :sad2: and was pleasantly surprised when they were open. :yay:

I was able to book an AKL Concierge studio for the night of the 8th (less than 3 months out) :dance3: and I am waitlisted for the same on the night of the 16th. They did find me an SSR studio for the 16th though so I am a very happy camper. :woohoo:

And I must say that the person I worked with at MS was extremely pleasant and good to work with. I have been doing the happy dance ever since.

I have always been able to get my 1st or second choice provided I have made the request at a "reasonable" time (not the last couple of weeks or days). I have been on the "waitlist", but it has always come through (even the Vero Beach Cottage)

The good/bad thing about us here in the states is that we have very few true holidays, and even then many people are working. Boxing day - not a true holiday in the US. Happy for you! Makes me wish for a more canadian/European style holiday schedule:laughing:

That's great. I'm happy for you. You got a tough to get room.

You hit the nail on the head Eva! It's human nature I suppose for people to complain...unfortunately, positive experiences aren't deemed to be as worthy of attention as they should be!

We just back from BWV and are VERY pleased.

This is a trip that we would have never made without our DVC membership! It was a great trip filled with pixie dust! The BWV were wonderful!

I have been a member just over a year and so far I have always gotten what I want- (3 trips booked so far) I got OKW for what is called the busiest week of the year (After Christmas through New Years) by getting on the waitlist just after the 7 mo. mark and the other trip is for HHI 1bdrm for Easter week which I booked right at 7 mos. Loving the DVC!

I have always (my parents have too) been very pleased with not only the folks that have helped us at MS, but also with getting rooms. My Dad and DBIL decided last weekend to take my nephew down in March for Braves Spring Training and had a very good experience with MS, and securing his rooms.
I have to add that it might be because we don't (and I am not trying to get folks all riled up, just an observation) spend alot of time in our rooms when at WDW and aren't really that picky. I have found something unique and wonderful about every resort. I find myself shaking my head :confused3 when reading the negative posts as it seems the folks don't allow for any variance - if they can't get the forth room from the corner, on the second floor, facing the South, DVC is no good, MS is no good, etc., etc.

The general tone on the boards had me worried about being able to switch at the 7-month point for our upcoming August vacation. I was sure I was going to go on a hopeless waitlist and wind up staying at our home resort (which we wouldn't have minded at all). However, to my complete delight, both weeks we wanted (2-Bdr at VWL and Studio at BCV) were available when I called.

We're the same about not being picky. Since May of 2006, I've stayed at OKW (in June, 3 weeks after I joined!!), SSR in November and December of 2006, VB/SSR in May of 2007 and SSR again in December 2007. We have loved every trip and have been happy with our rooms every time. Now, it may be because I'm a new member and we don't remember the "glory days", but maybe that's not a bad thing.

:cheer2: I'll join the cheering section!:cheer2: I love owning DVC and I always find something positive wherever we stay. Do I have my favorites? You betcha, but each vacation club we've stayed at has something I like about it. At Beach Club, it's the location. At OKW, it's the space and laid back feel. At AKV it's everything. And so on, and so on.
Thanks for starting such a positive thread.

I have really always been pretty happy with avialbilty. However, I tend not to be very picky (did a study if I don't book HH or VB all rooms are at Disney)

IMHO the DVC boards are the "Doom and gloom" boards. I try to read about half of what's posted as I find it just amazing how miserable most posters seem to be. (I have yet to figure out why a lot of them don't sell LOL!) I also cruise lots of other Disney boards and the DIS DVC is by far the most negative....

I like to read all of the comments. We must not get caught up in a " Disney World Fish Bowl". There is a lot of money that has been spent by many members. We should be as informed as possible.

We had one ressie go awry in the booking process, but at the last minute before the trip it was salvaged.:goodvibes

We've only booked 1 last minute, that is, 6 week advance notice trip, and it was one of the nicest we've ever taken. We would be happy in any DVC for a trip like that.

Count us as very satisfied DVC members.

Bobbi:goodvibes
