Let me see.....where do I begin :scratchin .

I thought I was a Disney expert since I had read the Unofficial Guide and then when I was finished reading it ...I read it again. Then I discovered the DIS I started reading the treads and then I read some more and then I discovered DVC.

I had already decided that when I went on my February trip (I planned every detail for the trip my SIL, DB and kids just had to show up) I would buy DVC all I needed was a little encouragment....or so I like to think. To make a long story short when I went in February I bought DVC. My DNep's think their aunt is soo cool because she has a Mickey house :cool1: . I decided then that I wanted to spend my BIG birthday in November in WDW.

I casually mentioned it to my family and was dismissed since it was February. Ok...I let that go. When I made my trip down in May...I really decided...this is where I want to be for my BIG Birthday!! So I did a dumb thing....I asked my family again if they would like to join me. Again they thought it was to early to start planning.....TO EARLY...are you people nuts.

Needless to say I was upset that noone wanted to go with me.....So what do I do when I am upset....what else but plan a trip :teeth:

I called DVC to book a Studio at SSR. When the DVC rep asked me for the names of the guest staying in the room....I replied...just me...noone wants to come with me for my Birthday. I'm sure I sounded totally lame but who cares...I was determined to go and use my DVC for my Birthday.

So as of June the Cast for this trip is:

DisneyAunt-- Crazy about Disney and Big Birthday coming.

Several weeks later my DSIL decides that she and my DNep's want to join me. I was soo excited :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc . So I started planning accordingly. After all I am the A#1 Aunt :teeth: . SO I call DVC and update my reservations. I also got a great rate on a minivan from Hertz. Yes I know I was shocked to!!!

New Cast:

DisneyAunt--Crazy about Disney and Big Birthday coming
DSIL-Had never been to Disney until May 2004 with me and now she is hooked
DNep#1 (7)--loves Disney and can name every animal at AKL. 3rd trip to WDW
DNep#2 (4 3/4)--Loves Disney and asks everyday "can we go to Disney
today" Also 3rd trip.

So we were set......Until.....My DM decided she wants to go. DM has never been to Disney and the kids were telling her about all the rides and how much fun they were going to have....but they would have much more fun if she was there. UH OOOOHHHH....Grandma guilt....you can guess what happens next. Yes DM is coming to. Now I needed to call DVC and get a 1 bedroom Villa. The boys are excited. I also had looked into renting an electric cart for DM...since she has a bad foot and can't walk for a long time.

I have been scouring the airlines for cheap tickets, checking everyday, planning, planning and planning. You know how it goes. I find cheap airfare. for $138 R/T. Only thing is we would have to come back on Monday instead of Sunday. No big deal for me, work won't mind cause I am the boss :rotfl: . DSIL says no way....boys can't miss anymore days of school. I try telling her the kids won't mind but that doesn't work. Back to the drawing board. I decide to wait for another airline deal. BTW this is now the end of July.

In the middle of August I get another deal from Continental for $190 R/T still pretty good. And we get the time we want and the days we want. I suggested DSIL check with her DH who is my DB. Got that?? My DB has a job that he can't predict ahead of time when he can take off so it is hard to plan a trip with him because he may not be able to go. I bet you can guess what happens now.....DB say when are you all going? DSIL say for you DS B-day. DB says are you staying at the hotel we stayed in Feb and how much is it....DSIL says no you DS is using her DVC so hotel is free. :scratchin :scratchin . (Mental note DVC just became free) DB says....I'll go to....get me a ticket. Now I love my DB and he never gets to spend as much time as he would like with his kids....but this has become a real pain in the neck.

So I call DVC and get a 2 bedroom Villa and update all that info. Then I start planning, dinning, fantasmic, etc...

DB--too serious....First time in Disney 2/2004 and enjoyed watching his kids

Then we realized we can't leave my father home by himself. DF is 70ish and thinks he is going to die everyday and he won't part with a penny. Kids adore him. So what the heck we began our quest to get him to go. Kids ask and DF responds he was at WDW when it opened....(I heard this story 100+times) DF also tells the boys that he has gone 3 other times and he is too old to go now. To that my DNep #1 responds ....."DisneyAunt can rent you an electric cart, you don't even have to walk and besides I can't fit in the stroller anymore so I can get a ride with you" DF thinks for a minute and says.....OK I WILL GO!!! Then I nearly fell off my chair as did the rest of the family, DF announces he will pay for everyone's airline ticket!!! I said to my DF it is not necessary....I got the biggest kick in the shin from DM. Ok...I said thanks Dad!!! So here we go again.

Ok...so now there are 7 of us.....Forget the minivan...no room for luggage....we are getting an Excursion...no deals on that one. I called DVC once again and updated the reservations. In the meantime....DSIL finds out she is with child. Uh Oh...she will be 6 months when we go in December....I hold off buying tickets until her doctor says it is ok to fly, her doc says it will be no problem

In the meantime...I getting all are PS and all my special birthday treats. I booked a Fantasmic Dinner Package at the Brown Derby, I managed to get and Illuminations Cruise for Friday Night :cheer2: :cheer2: , Needless to say I am like every other DISer and have planned everything and as you all know it is no easy task. My family just thinks this just magically happens :wizard:

I finally book our tickets. So we are all set!! Finally!!!

UNTIL.....this past weekend....we are all eating dinner together and I announce to DF that CC bill came in with everyone's tickets. He announces that he is not going.....WHAT??? Why???? Because I will be dead by then he announces. DNep #1 says to my DF....yeah DisneyAunt is going to kill you if you don't go. Remind me to buy this kid something special...he knows how much time I have put into this. Oh and DF is being hessitant about paying for airline tickets because he doesn't work, he also doesn't have any bills to pay. .....no big deal we kinda knew that was happening. But then DM announces that if he is not going .....she won't leave him all alone.

Several days ago I was going over the planned itinerary with DSIL...and she doesn't think DB can do the illuminations cruise because of motion sickness. I explained to her how difficult it is to get this event and all the other events I planned. I suggested DB take a motion sickness pill.

So that brings me to tonight....I am working on my third Mike's Twisted Tea. :drinking1 Stressed out and eating Girl Scout cookies. What is the matter with everyone don't they know how much work this is. Do they think that you just show and everything is magically planned.

I decided that everyone is getting on that plane if I have to drag them on it and they will have fun when we get there. Needless to say I just finished planning my SOLO trip for January 2006.

Maybe I should just invite Delswife and her family to celebrate my birthday I don't think they would give me such a problem.

Stay Tuned for more Drama

UPDATE 10/12/05

Sit back everyone and listen to this....Major venting here!!

Here WAS the Cast:

DisneyAunt--Crazy about Disney and Big Birthday coming
DSIL-Had never been to Disney until May 2004 with me and now she is hooked
DNep#1 (7)--loves Disney and can name every animal at AKL. 3rd trip to WDW

DB--too serious....First time in Disney 2/2004 and enjoyed watching his kids

Well I just found out tonight that a very very close relative is planning on having his childs christening while we were away  . I told him we were going to be away and he graciously said he is going to change the date. I told him that that was not necessary and he said that we can't have a party without our whole family being their and he is going to change the date. How awful do I feel!!! :guilty:

So now I proceed to tell DB that is when we are all going away and he replies...me too!! :earseek: ....like it was a heck of shock to him! I said of course you too....but I understand with your job that you may not be able to get away. But I did remind him that the whole family committed to going and I have already bought tickets for everyone and taken care of EVERYTHING for the whole trip. He jokingly says ....Even for Dad??? Because you know he did say he was going to be dead by the time we are going!!
:scared1: <----This was literally the look I gave him. I replied "yes I know he says he is going to die before then....and I will make sure that I put a mickey head on his casket and ship him down to WDW with us. :rotfl: :rotfl:

So now......I am really aggravated ...I called Continental to find out if we would get some type of credit if they don't go. ANd they said they would credit us from the date of purchase for a year. So that is acceptable...but then she tells me that there is a change in your flight. This will be the third change and it is in the time. No big deal it will leave 10 minutes earlier from EWR and leave 15 minutes later from MCO.

So then my father announces that he will go if DB does not. WHAT???? WHY??? I thought you were planning on dying before then? He literally said if DB doesn't go I won't die and go with you guys. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Great Dad that makes lots of sense.

So I decided that I am going to keep the 2 bedroom at OKW and if I wind up going alone I will sleep in one bed a night.

Bottom line I love my family but they are driving me nuts!!! :crazy2: :crazy2:

God bless ya.

p.s.

I suggest you dont tell them your going in January - just send a post card from wdw.

I'm sure your all have a great time -

Take me! Take me!! What a delightful story. Just know in your heart that you ARE being the magic for these unknowing, babes of Disney. They'll never see the strings, that's what makes it real. Keep up the good work and keep the faith!

I forgot to mention that we will be meeting with 2 other relatives who live in the Orlando area.....but they are very easy going and not a problem.

Also I have not only all our meals planned but I have them paid for since I will be using my Disney Rewards $$ and I have accumulated a lot!!

I also am buying my AP and DDE card along with AP for the boys since I can get a nice discount with DVC.

Well I know the boys are coming and they are very cooperative and follow my itinerary because they know they won't have to wait in lines. Maybe I should just escape with them.....hmmmm that's a thought.

Omg how funny and frustrating your pretrip report has been! Sounds so much like my family when I took & paid for 12 of us in 1997 (whine whine whine from the in-law's about everything at BWV - they had their own 1-bedroom villa PLUS they didn't have to fork out any money for anything PLUS they were griping about how much better their trip the year before was staying at Port Orleans - they failed to mention to the other members of our party that I had paid for that trip too!!)

Now don't get me wrong - I loved treating everybody (and sadly it was only because of an inheritance I received when my brother died that I was able to even do this for them). So I can empathize a little with you!

I am planning a trip in March for just me and my DS 27, DS 23, DS18, DS12 & DD26 (we had taken a trip in 94 to Florida/WDW but my husb died suddenly of a heart attack in the hotel room). I am so looking forward to it - altho one time I'd like to go solo to see what it would be like.

P.S. Hope you do get to enjoy the trip, hope EVERYONE goes and has a great time (at least you and your nephews will!)

We blew a bunch of cash flying DMIL down with us first class and tickets and blah blah blah and at the end of the trip she announces "I just don't see why you guys love this place".

She's never been back with us. :cool1:

Thanks Everyone for you replies...... :goodvibes

I am determined that everyone comes and has a good time. I bet they'll want to take another trip again soon. Disney is an addiction I'm glad I have and am happy to share.

Ok, I'll make you a deal. ;) I'll go with you, we'll take just your nephews and we'll do whatever you have planned with no whining. Heck, I'll even buy you a drink or two. :D

Seriously, good luck with the planning! Give them all a deadline and then that's that. :)

OP - You are a saint!

I'm sure they'll all go. When you get there just make sure that all of the adults have their own room key, park map and know the general direction of your resort. If they start complaining, they'll have the tools to strike out on their own, leaving you and the nephews to have a great time. :teeth: :rotfl:

Thank you so much for posting this. It has been a semi-bad day, and this really made me laugh :)

A few nights ago, my BIL asked DSis if we could push back our dates one week. She was ready to kill him as we already have our ADRs and lucked out and got an Illuminations Cruise  -- all of which we would have to cancel and have no chance of replacing since we're way past 90 days! Well, she told him how much extra money it would cost to switch, and he came to his senses.

You are too good :) Maybe some of the adults can kick in some $$$ on food and merch ;)

Ok....I feel better now that I know my family is not the only group that doesn't get the idea of planning for Disney.

Here is a real good one too. Tonight we had a little family get together.....well not really....a big family get together, aunts, uncles cousins etc. ...anyway one of the cousins asks if they could come to WDW my response was........NO!!!

I felt so proud of myself....I could here my fellow Dis'ers cheering me on. I really don't feel like calling and changing all my PS and my other plans. But the real reason I said no was because I had asked her originally and she and her husband said they didn't want to come because we are all planning a family trip in January 2007.

Well I am dreading this family trip in 2007 because we will all be going to a wedding in the Orlando area and there will about 25 of us. I am going to get a 3 bedroom Villa, and am planning for only those who want to get involved and help in planning. I can have 12 people in a Villa...the rest are on their own. I guess I will deal with that when it happens.

That sounds good to me!! :teeth:

DisneyAunt:Been there! Done that! Survived it! Five years ago I made all of the plans for my dh's family of 11 to join us for a week at ASM. Although we all had to endure the mil from hell ( dear fil said she had "her panties in a wad" from the time we left home) it was worth every moment to see the expressions of pure joy on the faces of our two youngest dn's ( 2 and 3 at the time) when they first caught side of Cinderella's castle. Hang in there! Your dn's will have a lifetime of memories to cherise with their dDisneyAunt!

You are a saint! ::yes:: I wouldn't even TRY to go on vacation with 25 of my relatives.

I can't wait for the trip report!

To anyone here considering a solo, DO NOT hesitate to do it.
I just got back yesterday from my 1st solo trip and I LOVED IT!!!
I NEVER felt out of place and it was great doing whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. I kept in touch with my son who was concerned about me going alone but after the 1st day or two I think he was a little envious. It was awesome!!

I too can sympathize. I am going on Thursday with my Dbro and DNiece 10,Dniece 9,Dneph 6 and DF. This is the 5th trip I have planned for them!!! My DBro is almost divorced and each of the other trips had to be cancelled for them. 1 trip I never actually reserved them a room but the others I had. 2 trips we were supposed to go with my other brother and his family for Grand Gatherings. I made all the arrangements. At least I got to go each time except the last. I just couldn't tell my DN's that I was going without them again. So I stayed home and helped them move. Now I have to keep after my brother on where he wants to go, eat etc. I finally nailed him down on tickets today! I did buy MNSSHP tickets on Sunday. I hate the non refundable things but I was worried they would sell out. Now, on Monday my Dnep came down with Strep!!!!! He should be OK by Friday when they are going but I am worried about my 2 Dnieces now. What a hassel. On top of it all I had great AP discounts for the other trips but not this one. Now we are paying full price for AKL. All the other resorts are full. So it will be hot and crowded my two least favorite things. OK thanks for letting me whine!!! I know I will be fine when I am there. The kids are so excited.
