That was a wondrful post....You do have a way with words. I am sorry to hear about your father, I hope that he enjoys the trip and that your whole family has plenty of wondrful memories to look back on.

I totally understand about the whole planning for the family thing. I've been planning for ages now and things just keep popping up.....if I didn't have such a wonderful husband I would have been committed by now, then again this is all his fault! My trials and tribulations are in the post in my signature if you would like to laugh at some one else and their family.

The more people you include, the more complicated it gets, as I've learned (the hard way) now planning 2 trips with people other than DH and I.

Dear DisneyAunt,
I wish you were my Disney Aunt. You are wonderful. What a heart of gold. I tried to plan a group trip for my SIL (her DH, and 3 DD's), FIL and his wonderful wife, and my family (DH and 2 DS's). My SIL made up 4 (literally) excuses as to why she couldn't come as soon as I had the words out of my mouth to invite them and cover their 2 BR villa, a studio for my FIL and wonderful wife, and a 1 BR for us. I'd also do food, and if I know my FIL, he'd end up paying for everyones passes. I gave up after another try or two, after listening to the advice of those who truly love me. You are a saint for doing this (even though it sounds like your family actually want to go). I bet you are really glad now that you are doing this. You are a wonderful person, and you are giving a "priceless" gift to your entire family.

Thank you all for your kind words. It is so encouraging to hear everyones stories and know that I am not alone.

We went to the oncologist today and although his diagnosis still remains the same for now...he is an awesome doctor who has a way with words. He really put us all at ease and I saw my father relax and let down his guard. He was telling everyone that his is going to Disney. He even promised the kids he will go on Splash Mountain with them.....that should be funny. We are all excited for our trip can't wait. I am thinking about canceling my solo trip in January and do another family trip ...did I just say that. I must be delirious.

I have enjoyed reading all of your posts. I am trying to plan a family trip (long distance) with DB and his family. (SIL and 2 DD) I am wanting to take my DF. My mom passed away in Jan and didn't get to Epcot. My family (DH, DS-15, DD-11, and DD-8) went to WDW for the first time this summer and DF wanted to know all about Epcot. He kept reminding me that Mom wanted to go and never got to. DB won't commit to a time or give me any info to go on to set everything up, which I said I would do. I am thinking about getting my DNieces down to us in '07 and we will take them to WDW. Take DF without the DN. I just really want to do this. I wish we could have taken Mom. It does break my heart.
Enjoy your trip! It may have been a pain in the neck to plan, but I know your DF is worth it.
