:scared1: DD11 is almost 12, 5 foot 4 in. When we had her measured for my DSIL (she's in the wedding, Jr brides dress made has to be shipped the seamstressed said make sure you tell them her age.) I can't find clothes for her. She does not fit into girls and JR's are way to, well to put it mildly, sleezy looking.
DD and I both agree about the sleezy look. This mornig she says she has no clothes.. I'm a shopaholic. She has no room in her closet. SHe says she will only wear Limited jeans (true because they are the only brand that fits her because they are long)..no more cutsie outfits more me. She says the t shirts are to see threw. She's at the age where she is very concsious(spelling?) of her body.

Gone are the days where I can put those pretty little skirts (all the skirts are to short).
Well now we have gone bathing suit shopping. WHAT IS GOING ON W/ THOSE BOTTOMS!!!!! I think her underwear cover her more. I tried to get her to get a limited bathing suit but she has a long torso and they don't fit.

OK where so you shop for your DD"s who are tall.

My dd is not tall (on the contrary, she's short but very slim), but I've had some luck with Lands End. DD10 wanted a bikini (YIKES!:scared1: ) this year, and we were able to find one there that was cute and "hip" (acc. to dd) and sized slim! You might want to look online there....

Good luck! I agree that clothes have gotten very sleezy looking, especially for the preteen set--I'm luck that dd likes t's, jeans, and capris!

Aeropostale pants size 00 work for my almost 13-year-old very slim daughter. Girls size slims no longer work for her and junior sizes at most places swim on her, let alone make her look like a junior hooker. It is really hard for pre-teens and teens to dress modestly these days. Actually she has good luck buying used pants at a resale shop here in town, and she doesn't mind stuff from garage sales which is the only way she ever gets Limited Too or Silver label jeans.

I'm not at the stage yet, but from walking through the stores, I can certainly understand why you having a problem - yuck!

Before I even read the pp's response, my first thought was landsend. Many Sears stores now carry it and offer the option of placing an online order in the store w/ no shipping&handling charges (delivered to your house). You are also able to return in-store (sears) and online (landsend.com) purchases in any sears store with a landsend kiosk. Also, their return policy can't be beat!

Thanks for all your responces.

Keara's mom I have the opposite DD is very tall. She has a very skinywaist that is where I have the problem. Limited 2 seems to work for the length. Her body is getting a womanly figure so she is very sensitive to what she will wear. Last yr I got her a pair of jeans from the adult Gap. I was forcing her to wear them because I spent a pretty penny on them and she agreed she liked them when we bought them. I found her in the bathroom crying that she hated growing up and that she looked to mature in them. She did not look mature she actually looked very good, it's just that it gave her curves. She ended up wearing them w/ a big t shirt.

MJ8895 We have the same problem. Jr's make her look like a Jr hooker and preteens are to babyish. Especially since her 7ry old sister can now fit in them. I remember when they wanted to share a rm and dress up the same..Ah the good old days.

Labst60, hopefully by the time you have this problem There will be a store that will cater to all our humble daughters. Not to slutty but not to babyish.

We should all go into business and make up our own clothing line. Maybe we'll call it Disneys Obsessed Girls.:rotfl2:

I am going to try Lands End. When you buy at Lands Ends do you buy for girls, jrs, or misses?? Does Sears carry a JR Lands End

Thanks for yr support .As a preteen mom I need all I can get...:grouphug:

Preteen mom here too. My dd is 12 1/2, and she is not tall, but getting curvy in places that do not look right when wearing things from LTD2.

We have recently been having some luck at aeropostle. At least they have decent shirts there. Pants are a problem because she no longer will fit into size 14 girls, and 16's are hard to find. I don't know if it's because so many other girls her age are wearing size 16's that they run out of that size quickly, or that they don't stock enough.

We just recently found a pair of cargo type pants at Old Navy, size 4 juniors. They are a little big, and a little long, but at least she likes them!

We shop a lot at Old Navy, JC Penny and Kohl's too.

I have an extremely hard time with my two DD's. Ages 9 and 11.
My 11 yo is 5'6". I find that Jc Penneys plus sizes fit her best and still are age appropriate. She doesn't need the plus for weight issues just height.
They have cute one piece swimsuits in the plus that fit her really well.
I find some Jc Penneys are better stocked that others so it helps to look around.
Now shoes is another story. Both girls wear 9 - 9 1/2 womans shoe:scared1:
Try finding a cute dress shoe without a 6in heel - not an easy task!

:grouphug:

I just want you all to know that I feel you pain. My DD is 9 and going on 19. She is in the 3rd grade and has already started puberty. She has always been interested in "looking teenagery" (her words) and wanting to wear what I call "hoochie-mama" clothes! High heels and skorts to school? :confused3

She has started growing "hair" and wearing a bra. We have had the "becoming a woman" talk and she is ready and waiting. I do not have the heart to tell her what a pain it is!

As far as clothing goes, she does not have a problem finding a good fit, baby got back! She is quite happy with her changes.

I just wanted to let you all know I understand and I feel your pain!

I feel your pain. My dd is a twig. She is 12 1/2 and about 54 inches tall and about 70 pounds! We've always had a time fitting her well. It was great when she wore dresses, but now she's into jeans more and it is a bear finding things that fit. I do find that llbean and lands' end have a good slim selection (although it wasn't always this way---see blog post linked here)

http://www.pediascribe.com/20070307/thank-you-lands-end-and-ll-bean/

Old Navy sometimes works for us b/c of the waistbands you can cinch in, but sometimes they need so much cinching they are uncomfortable.

Measure your daughter up and you can call or live chat with the llbean or lands' end people. They are usually pretty good at helping you find what size is best. I've even called them with measurements that aren't on their measuring chart (i.e. inseam) and they could tell me what the measurements are of a particular item.

Good luck. We need to spring shop here VERY soon and I don't look forward to it.

We had the same problem with our dd last year. We also recommend the jr sizes at Old Navy, and Aeropostale (those pullover hoodies are wonderful!). She also likes JC Penney, and we've had good luck lately at Macy's. My dd lived in capris when she was at that stage...it was so hard to find pants long enough with a wide enough waist for her. We had to find jrs at Old Navy, and they fit her well.

As for bathing suits...my dd was happy with those surfboard shorts and tank top... thank goodness!

That's another issue..She is a 9 1/2 shoe, if we're lucky. I'm so happy ballerina shoes are in style this season because that's what we picked up for Christmas last yr and she'll wear them for Easter. Have to check if they fit.:headache: This yr her middle school allows flip flops. W/ is good because they don't have heels. She won't wear regular Crocs because she says her feet look to big.

I have found it easier this yr then in former yrs. Luckily the styles have changed.

My daughter is 12 1/2, tall and slim and we've also had good luck with aeropostale clothing.

I'm sixteen and 5'1". I absolutely LOVE Delias. I'd try there for jeans. They might be exactly what you need.

My DD12 is almost 5' 7" tall.
She weighs about 110-115 pounds.

She will only wear Aeropostale jeans.
She likes that they are long on her.
I can't stand the long length...she walk around on the bottom of her jeans almost.

Try Lands End .com they are great , I buy my DD clothes from there all the time. She is 9 and is 5' 1" . Good Luck

My 9 year old is 5' already and very very skinny. We've had the best luck with Limited Too & Justice Just for Girls ( owned by Limited Too but the clothes are a little more modest and cost a little less). We've also had a lot of luck at JCPenny and Lands End.

my dd 12.5 has also "changed" alot htis year we have luck at jcpenny's,aeropostal and ltd too! but, ltd too's shirts don't work at all!!! this years swimwear was a small bottom that has to be taken in,and a medium jr's top that i can wear! life is just not fair!!!!

DD 12 was invited to a COED B'day Party for this weekend. We spent the whole day looking for a bathing suit. I tried all your suggestions...THANK YOU Everyone for your advice.

Well as Mom to teenagers and/or preteens you all know how hard it is to shop w/ a 12 yr old for a 12 yr old. We went to 3 malls. The area I live in does not have malls close together, so the drive to each mall took about 30min. each we drove to each
WE went to stores ranging from Niemen Marcus (yes I was desperate) to Walmart. The bathing suit we both agreed on cost $164. not including tax.:scared: I was so desperate I almost bought it. As our last resort I suggested trying our old favorite, Limited 2. Remember she thought she was to old for this store (DD6 now can fit in to this brand).
We found IT!!! Modest, but classy and hip. And alot less then $164.
The funny part is we bought her swimsuit here last yr and this year the bathing suit is a size smaller from last yr.:confused3

Preteens I know I was once one of them..but was I ever this particular about everything?

I'm 19, and I've been shopping at Aeropostale ever since I was twelve (I'm 5'3, and I've been that tall since I was eleven, I think, and I was a c-cup at ten. :scared1: Needless to say, I started shopping in the "teen" stores early.). For the most part, their clothes are cute and hip without being "hoochie mama-ish." Sure, sometimes they have a few miniskirts around, but you'll be hardpressed to find a store that doesn't. (And this year the trend is to wear short skirts and adorable print or solid leggings beneath. Very '80s and tones down the miniskirt. As someone who hates short skirts for fear of pulling a Britney Spears, I think it's a great trend. ;) ) It's definitely my top pick for trendy clothes that aren't too much for the younger crowd. Plus, they've always got awesome sales going on. They're prices rival Wal-Mart sometimes!

Old Navy also has really cute clothes that aren't too revealing, and Delia's has some of the cutest clothes EVER and they're all Mom-approved styles from what I've seen. :thumbsup2

YES!! not to go into details but. my dh and i met at 15{me} and 19(him) wound up expecting our dd a few months later needless to say we hav eour 12th anniversary in 2 days!! and our dd12.5 has pulled some stuff this year that i clearly remember doing !!!It's so funny how I can still remember so much!! but then I'm only 28!! Our code is BULL DOOKIE !! If mom say's that it means don't even try that one been there, done that.So yes we were all picky and wanted to fit in,we just wanted to dress like madonna not hanna montana or ashley tisdale!!
