Does anyone know about how many pressed penny machines there are in WDW? And possibly the locations? I wna to make sure I bring enough change!! :thumbsup2

Lots! LOL I have 5 M&M Minis containers empty (hard job but someone has to do it!), clean and ready to get filled with quarters and pennies for our trip. Not hitting all of them, just going to make a list of all the ones I like and their locations. Also already collecting my pre 1982 pennies for cleaning. Luckily a couple friends of mine work at stores where I can go in where they aren't busy and trade some newer pennies for older ones.

And I found out that SeaWorld (if you are going there too, has the penny presses too).

Pre 1982 pennies have a higher copper content, and therefore (b/c copper is soft and malleable) press better.:)

Wow I thought I had alot with 3 filled Mini M&M tubes... and I had someone from work ask me to get a bunch for her grandkids!

My nephew had a great time looking for the machines and I had did my homework so I had a list for each park:) He bought a book to put them all in:) He thinks he needs to go back to do more:)

We also do the Mini M&M's and also the pre 1982 pennies, and on our last trip 3 weeks ago I think we only found 3 or 4 pennies we did not already have. I am not sure but I think we are up to 5 pressed penny books. We love looking for the machines and we use these as souviners and its fun for us to look..Enjoy searching

I'm not sure I'm even going to take all 5 Mini's tubes but at least I have them just in case. They were hard to find around here as it is. But I have to brag on my Hubby. I've been sick the last week or so and Hubby went out yesterday evening. While at Advance Auto or some auto parts store, he asked the guy to go through his drawer and see how many pre 82's he had. I was just thrilled with the 6 he brought home. (It's the little things I guess)

Then last night he comes in with 16 more! He made the girl at Arby's do the same thing. LOL :lmao: I wonder how crazy they think my Hubby is now. At least we can be the "crazy" couple now.

Hi
My DGD (5 1/2) and I did pressed pennies for the first time. I had separate containers, medicine pill bottles, that I took the labels off of and one container with pre 1982 pennies and then new shiny pennies. We liked the shiny new pennies better. I did clean up the old pennies with vinegar and salt, so they looked good, but weren't shiny like the new ones. She really had a good time with it. I bought her a pressed penny book, so now we have to go to DW again to finish filling it up.

We've been searching for our pre 82 pennies and need to clean them all up before Saturday. DH has been experimenting with different tricks he found online to clean them but the ones that were really dark didn't come out to shiny. Also got DS the mini M&M's container but realizing I need more. He doesn't know yet that I already got him a pressed penny book. I'm making him a bag to give him either on the plane or at the resort.

Where are you buying the books to put the pressed pennies in? Are they available at WDW?

Post 1982 pennies are copper plated zinc and the silvery zinc can bleed through.

Pre 1982 are a copper alloy that is the same color throughout the coin.

I never thought about this. I had my new shiny pennies ready to go! Guess I'll be cleaning pennies this weekend :)

yep, you can get them at just about any and every gift shop at the resorts and in the parks. generally check by the check out counters. they were $7 or so dollars the last time i bought one (at least a year or two ago though.)
