Does DL have pressed penny machines like WDW does? My DS has started a collection & it would be cool if he can continue it when we go to DL.

Yes, DLR has the pressed penny machines! :)

I was reading through a thread yesterday and somebody stated...

"Go to City Hall and get a free print out of a list of ALL the pressed penny machines throughout both parks and all three hotels and Downtown Disney as well."

Have fun with this!!!

From the Disney Parks Blog (March 10, 2010):

Did you know that Disneyland Resort offers more than 150 different dies that can be pressed on a penny, nickel or even a quarter? Most of the pressed coin machines you’ll find are for pennies, but it’s the thrill of the hunt that makes it that much more fun to find the others. There are currently 57 coin press machines in the Resort. Have you found them all?

A complete list of locations and coin press collectibles is available at Guest Relations/City Hall in Disneyland park as well as online at ArtofDisneyParks.com under Park Treasures.

Hope this helps. :earsboy:

I don't remember dimes but didn't look hard. I know during Halloween/Christmas they had a pressed quarter machine in New Orleans Square that was Nightmare Before Christmas themed, but I imagine that one is seasonal.

I would think the City hall list might tell whether there are dimes/quarters available. These are my son's favorite regular souvenir (and mine, 'cause they're cheap and small!)

How much are the pressed pennies? I was assuming 51 cents... I may need to reconfigure the change I have sorted for the kidds.

Yes, pennies are 51 cents. Quarters are $1.25. I haven't seen a nickel one, but I would guess 55 cents?

http://www.disneynow.com/profile/web/index.cfm?PKwebID=0x37065136&varPage=home is a direct link to the list. When my travel buddy got a list from City Hall, it was not as updated as this one, so you might just want to print this one out in advance.

Pressed coins are one of my favorite things! If you press one on a wooden sidewalk/porch in Frontierland, though, make sure you put your hand out to catch the penny. It may fly right out of the holding area...as mine did! I looked down and there were probably 30+ pressed pennies (including mine!) fallen in-between the cracks and inaccessible.

Machines can also go down (sometimes for a long time, or sometimes just for the day). I was super-excited to get the WALL-E set in June and got them as soon as I could! One night when I went to the arcade, though, the machine was out of order. :( It was fixed the next day, but if your heart is set on a coin, I suggest you don't wait until the last minute.

I think nickels are 80 cents but I'm not certain. Nickels are awesome, though, because they don't tarnish! I don't remember how much the dimes were; no more than $1.10 total, but it might've been 85 cents.

When we were there in October, I also saw the pressed coin souvenir books for sale all over the place, usually near the machines. They are little books that open and have tiny, clear pockets that individually hold your coins. I can't remember the price, but I am sure they were under $10 each. I know they have carried these for awhile, but never really noticed them until last trip, as my kids started to really hunt the penny machines out!

ETA: Here is a link that features the various books, (and they also have lots of other cool info on the coins): http://www.parkpennies.com/penny-collector-guides/penny-collector-books.htm
