Just thought I'd ask the experts here.... a friend asked me to look for discounts for her family for a trip that week....(yesterday! she isn't a planner lol)
Anyway after a quick look, I gathered that this must be one of the WORST times to fly and visit Disney..... is that right? or can we expect any discounts to appear? ( I have always traveled in 'off' seasons) or is she out of luck? airfare alone is over 400 pp....:scared: the room discounts are pretty much gone:scared: it's a bit of a bummer, but if she had asked 2-3 months ago,I might have been able to help out.... I may advise her to try another date range....

400 actually isn't that bad for airfare for President's week depending on where you are flying from. A lot of schools in the northeast have that week off so everyone is flying. I normally pay around 400 to fly that week.

Disney wasn't as busy as I was envisioning last year for President's week, I didn't arrive til Thursday though.

Mardi Gras is also the same week, which means more southern schools are off too.

Its also the Daytona 500 race week and a lot of fans stay at Disney. Its also Twirl Mania competition that weekend at Disney so expect to see A LOT of teenage girls. Been to WDW many times during that week and the parks are crowded rooms availability is limited and room discounts are blacked out that week. So even if she would have asked 3-4 months ago there would not have been any deals for that week.

Any WDW discounts for room, free dining, etc. are blacked out during President's Week. It's February/Winter Recess for most schools, and this year it's coupled with the events mentioned in previous posts. There MAY be AAA rates available, which are usually negligible discounts and could be sold out by now.

wow..... well, I already mentioned to her that an alternate date would probably be a better choice..... thanks for the info!
