It appears that the President will be in Pensacola tonight and tomorrow assessing the impact of the oil spill.

His visit is going to cause quite a disruption of traffic in the area. While I'm not a "fan", if his visit helps to improve the response to the disaster, it will be worth it.

I am a fan, but that's besides the point. I think they (the advisors and the planners) REALLY need to look at what they are impacting when this happens. A few years ago, we had a Presidential visit exactly at rush hour on a Thursday, on the 405 Freeway. Traffic was stopped for security reasons and it tied things up for hours, causing so much trouble.

It really doesn't matter if you are fan of the sitting president or not, SOME logic needs to be introduced to the situation of their visits. (Basically if something did happen, how the HECK would they get him out quickly other than a helicopter?)

But, all that said, I hope it DOES improve the disaster response.
