I understand that you can get your wedding dress preserved whereby they clean, steam and box it up and send it back home for you. I know Carolyn Allens does this as does Davids Bridal. Do they deliver to the UK or is it just in America. Does anybody know the costs of this as well.

Thanks.

You can probably find a gown preservation specialist in the UK - or even a dry cleaner. However, it is considered something of a rip-off. I'm reading "Bridal Bargains" right now (it's a kind of wedding industry watchdog book and site), and they say most preservationists just throw the gown in a washing machine. The really bad ones don't clean your gown at all - they put it in a sealed box and tell you that if you open it you've voided their warranty - so of course you never see that they didn't clean it! This book says the best way to preserve your gown is to wash it on the gentle cycle (unless it's silk) and wrap it in a clean bedsheet.

If you don't need to clean it, I know there's a UK company that makes these gorgeous do-it-yourself preservation boxes with acid-free tissue. Another UK bride on here, Janine, got one, and we US brides were all jealous cuz you can't get them over here.
