Can anyone give me ideas for presents for daycare teachers? He has two teachers, it's a school, not in-home. I have a yankee candle gift set and made a change purse for each of them with their name and "A really great teacher at _____ School" on them", but do you think I need to do anything else too? It's hard because I have so many people to buy for, but it gets crazy. They have been his teacher for two months as that's when he got moved to their class.

I think that sounds like a nice set of gifts and a good amount for each of them.

We've done watches, movie night baskets, hand beaded bracelets (with a removeable charm with DS's photo on it - I still see the director at our daycare wear hers almost 4 years later!)

As my DS has moved through the classrooms at his daycare we've kind of morphed from individual gifts to group gifts since (thankfully) there's little turnover at his center and I don't want to forget the past teachers he's had and loved. Two years ago I bought a bunch of toiletries, lotions, and and handy-to-have stuff and made a basket for the staff bathroom and last year we went in with two other families that we're friends with and bought a Keurig coffee maker and a bunch of K cups for the staff. This year will be another supply of K cups since the machine is still going strong.

thanks guys - you have made me feel much better. I love how the change purses turned out, but then was starting to doubt myself.

and I agree about the coffee machine - great idea!

I think we'd all love to see pics of the coin purses!:thumbsup2

Never underestimate a handmade gift from the heart - people really appreciate them, especially personalized...I know I do!

I am in a similar situation; last year I got my DS's 2 main teachers a small gift set from Bath & body works, and a $5 dunkin donuts gift card. His day care is a school-like setting, and this year he has 3 main teachers. I'm probably going to do something similar...and i've been keeping an eye on what other parents are giving the teachers...mugs with candy, cocoa & coffee...I try not to spend too much because I'm already paying so much for his tuition, and I try to bring stuff into the classroom throughout the year. I do really appreciate the wonderful care he gets there, so I also try to write a thoughtful, thankful note to the teachers, which they sometimes appreciate more than a material gift.

That sounds great! My dd has 2 teachers and I'm giving them Starbucks gift cards. I always see them with Starbucks so I know they'll enjoy it.

I'm a teacher in a school center daycare. Your gift sounds lovely. Don't overthink it. We really do appreciate it all.

If possible to others, no mugs. We probably have tons of them and I hate to see you waste your money. I just don't use them.

And parents don't worry - a gift or lack of gift has absolutley no bearing on our relationship with your child. :)

thank you for saying this. I just love my son's teachers to date and don't want them to think I don't, but I also am stretched thin too.

Everyone made me feel much better - thank you!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2. You are absolutely right, no matter, gift or no, I still love all my kiddos. But please no more mugs, this year alone I have received 3 mugs with my initial, I think I'll start an herb garden in them, I don't drink coffee.

I'm sure they'll be happy to get anything! Just knowing you were thought of makes me :)

I am a day care/preschool teacher and trust me we understand how hard times are financially right now. Your gifts sound wonderful and even a thank you note is wonderful to receive.

As a former daycare teacher I just want to add to what others have said. Any gift is appreciated and no gift is fine, also. I received tons of ornaments when I was teaching and I still use them every year and still remember who most are from. I have been given everything from elaborate gift baskets to an empty jewelry gift box. This was from a child from a rather poor, single parent family. I know she wrapped it up herself because she thought is was so pretty and it meant the world to me. I have also received cards that told me how much I meant to the child, so that might be an option if you want to do something, but can't really afford a gift for everyone. And I, also, never thought less of a child that didn't bring me a gift.
